Miami-Dade County Participates in Mid-Managers Program The
Leadership Institute's latest Miami-Dade Mid-Managers program concluded in
March. One hundred and fifty three individuals have completed the three-and-a-half day
customized competency-based leadership program which focuses on topics like Performance Management and Results Orientation, Business Acumen and Entrepreneurship, and Adaptability and Decision-Making. Read more

Participate in Royal Caribbean Executive Program
The School of Business developed and delivered a three-day
custom executive education program for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines in
February. The program, entitled "Building on Talent," was taught by a number
of Leadership Institute faculty and included a case study on the cruise line industry . Read more

Space Coast Program Flies High
The latest group of students in the University of Miami's Master
of Science in Management of Technology (MSMOT) program in March completed the
"Leading Teams" course which is taught by Terri Scandura, academic director of
the Leadership Institute. Delivered in the Space Coast
region of Florida near Cape Canaveral, the program is designed
to provide training in both technology and management and is an example of the
interdisciplinary programs offered through the Leadership Institute. Read more

Leadership Institute Donor Visits
Campus
On March 24, 2009, Leadership Institute founder Johnson A.
Edosomwan visited the Coral Gables campus of the University of Miami. Following a visit to the Institute's
Miami-Dade Mid Manager's Program at the Miami Hyatt Hotel, Edosomwan met with
UM Provost Thomas J. LeBlanc. He then
attended a luncheon meeting with Institute faculty to discuss his vision and
future plans for the Institute. Faculty
shared their research interests with Edosomwan and their ideas for how to
further develop the Institute's dissemination of leadership research.
Edosomwan is the chairman and senior executive
consultant/coach for JJA Consultants Inc., the chairman and general manager for
Johnson A. Edosomwan LLC and the group chairman of C.I.C.

Research Update: Trust and leadership must go hand-in-hand
Trust and leadership are inextricably intertwined with trust
providing a basis for respect and authority. Accordingly, research by Cecily
Cooper, assistant professor of management and a Leadership Institute faculty
member, focuses on how to build and maintain trusting relationships. Eliciting
