Institute Offers Wide-Ranging Interdisciplinary Programs, Products and Services
The Johnson A. Edosomwan Leadership Institute is launching or supporting an ambitious new series of programs, products and services. These include an MSIE/MBA dual-degree program with Institute faculty support; leadership certificate programs; a development program for C-level executives; conferences, lectures and workshops; publications; sponsored research for public and private-sector organizations; scholarships for student research and education; and an awards program to recognize world-class leaders.
"We are not like leadership institutes at other universities," says Scandura. "We are setting ourselves apart with innovative, interdisciplinary programs that are not offered elsewhere. UM also has expert faculty who know how to get high-level audiences to think outside the box. We intend to teach leadership in a very creative way." Read More

Co-Sponsors Global Business Forum Events
The Institute co-sponsored
two events at the recent UM Global Business Forum, organized by the School of Business Administration. The first was a
special networking event and VIP dinner held at the Lowe Art Museum on Jan.
14. The dinner, held in conjunction
with the School of Business took place inside the Museum's Beaux Arts Gallery. Barbara E. Kahn, dean of the School of
Business and Brian
Dursum, the director of the Museum, spoke at the dinner.
The second event was a panel entitled "Global Mindsets: Women in Leadership Leveraging Cross-Border Perspectives." The panel discussion, held on Jan. 16, was
moderated by the Institute's Academic Director Terri Scandura. The panelists were Maria Eugenia Brizuela de
Avila, regional head for Latin America Corporate Sustainability, HSBC Latin
America; Zayra F. Calderon, the CEO of the Duramed FUTURES Tour; and Rosa Sugrañes, chairman of the board and founder of Iberia Tiles. The panelists presented their perspectives on
how to create and maintain a global mindset, and how their personal
experiences shaped their own global mindset.
The Global Business Forum also offered keynote speeches and a variety of panel
sessions on issues ranging from the global financial crisis and alternative
energy to health care, the environment, sustainable urbanism, and the developing economies of Latin America and Asia. The forum featured top executives from
leading organizations and other thought leaders on global connectivity.
