Buongiorno!
As 2009 comes to a close, we can all breathe a sigh of relief. The year was basically a bummer, but there were a few bright spots. For instance, the olive harvest was excellent this year, and we'll celebrate with bruschetta doused in extra virgin olive oil from Sicily, as we ring in 2010.
This winter in Sicily I'll be checking out some new hotels and recently opened archeological sites, and as I travel around I'll be posting to a new blog (coming soon!) But until then, I'd like to invite you to view some of the beauty of Sicily in the off-season, and entice you to take a 1-day tour in Sicily with me. Here are a few things we might do:
Walk by the seaside with wetlands full of flamingoes, and view extraordinary winter wildflowers.
Visit Greek and Roman sites without the crowds and explore the tiny backstreets of Baroque Ragusa.
Taste oranges plucked straight from the tree and forage for wild asparagus, then lunch in our kitchen.
Call Marie toll-free at 1-800-462-7911 to reserve.
We can customize a tour just for you.
You'll find everything in Sicily to be somewhat exaggerated - the raucous food markets, the color of the sea, the wild driving....and even the poinsettias are huge and splashy.
So, here's to an exaggeratedly wonderful 2010-
Buon Anno!
Ciao from sunny Sicily,
Anita Iaconangelo
