Roman Mosaics Unveiled on Splendors of Sicily tour |

 Buongiorno!
Spring is in full swing here in Sicily, and we're busy freshening up our tours with new finds. The fabulous Roman mosaics were just unveiled at the Villa Tellaro, and are now a part of our Splendors of Sicily tour, long before they'll be mentioned in any guidebook! Dating from the 4th century, the original villa was destroyed by a fire, and a farmhouse was built over it, leaving traces of the original villa's 60,000 square foot design. The few surviving mosaics depict a scene from the Iliad, as well as delightfully lavish banquet and hunting scenes. Their exquisite workmanship puts them on par with the finest examples of mosaic work in the Mediterranean, and after 30 years of restoration work, we are pleased to be among the first to see them.
Add this to the list of seven Unesco sites we visit on this tour, plus get behind the scenes with our Sicilian friends, and you can see why this tour was selected by National Geographic Traveler as one of "50 Tours of a Lifetime"!
We're working on a new website, so please visit us often to see what's new, or call Marie toll-free 1-800-462-7911 and she'll help you decide which is the best tour for you. I look forward to hosting you in Italy in 2008.
Ciao from sunny Sicily,

| Cook and Argue in Our Sicilian Kitchen - Walk off the Meals with Anita |
Emanuele puts parsley in his zucchini pasta, while his sister, Nella, uses mint. Whenever they are together in the kitchen, an argument ensues, which is usually solved by making both versions, so you get to taste two dishes! It's all part of the fun on our Walking & Cooking in Eastern Sicily tour, with Italian Connection's owners Anita and Emanuele hosting you in their home. Enjoy great meals in home kitchens as well as with professional chefs, glorious coastal and countryside walks that Anita discovered through local farmers, and hidden towns blissfully free of tourists.
Join our tour May 31-June 2, and Sept 13-19 or book your own private tour for a small group. It's ideal for small groups of family or friends, like David and Sandra Becker, who dined in our home when we lived in Chianti, and had such a good time that they are coming back with their own 8-person group to Sicily.
Anita will teach you how to select the best seasonal ingredients at the wild and wonderful market, while Emanuele slaves away in the kitchen... Read more including Emanuele's recipe for Asparagus Risotto. |
