Greetings!
|
Social media marketing is a great advertising platform for it's low costs and great return on investment. However, it can be stressful and overwhelming to keep the big machine going, especially if you're new to the game.
Here are a few tips on Managing Your Social Media Marketing Time;
Create a Plan - Tons of people
jump into the social media marketing pool without knowing how to swim.
Don't be that guy or gal. Do a little research to find out where your
market is networking and figure out the best way to grab their
attention. Once you know how to grab their attention (ie. what kind of
content, links, information, and etc to share) deliver it consistently.
Having a plan before you engage reduces the amount of time wasted online
which affects your bottom-line.
Identify Your Flow - This includes updating your social accounts, blog, and promoting your own projects. When I'm in my flow I share content on Twitter, Facebook, comment on other people's blogs, and promote my own blog posts in-between it all. I make sure to keep things balanced between what I share and what I promote. Once you find your flow you're more capable of managing your time within it.
Get on a Schedule - You have a work schedule don't you? Then why wouldn't you schedule your social media marketing activities? You can do this easily by using Google calendar. Here's an excellent video that'll show you how to create an editorial calendar for your blog. You can use the same method to create a social media calendar as well. It's important to note that creating a schedule or calendar will keep you focused and on task as opposed to wasting time.
Set Time Limits - Determine how much time you'll need to update your social profiles, engage in the comments section of a few blogs, update your own blog, create a video to share with your Facebook fans, and stick to it! Setting your time is the key to managing your time.
Maximize Tools - There are a myriad of tools to help you manage social media, here are a few that I think are helpful; Hootsuite lets you update your Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin profiles at the same time, manage conversations, and even lets you schedule messages for pre-determined times. It's an absolutely invaluable tool! Ping.fm lets you update multiple social accounts at the same time. It's great for on the go updating with it's mobile interface. Tweetdeck is my desktop social media manager of choice. It's great for updating multiple accounts at once and has a great interface. Flock is a web browser dedicated to social media. It lets you check your email, update your social accounts, and browse the web all at the same time.
By using these tips I hope you're more able to master your time when marketing on the social web. Be smart with your time, stay consistent with your approach, and you'll see a big difference in your bottom-line!
