Participants will leave the presentation with clear guidelines on the role of core vocabulary in reading proficiency, differences in the instruction of narrative and informational vocabulary, and ways to create purpose and background knowledge for complex texts.

In this session, procedures for increasing vocabulary through read-alouds, explicit vocabulary instruction, and word learning strategies will be explored. Research-validated procedures will be demonstrated and practiced. |
