Tietse's Choice Dressage Saddle

The perfect fitting of this saddle is very unique, specially designed and modified to fit the Friesian Horse.
This saddle is handcrafted in the MR Saddle tradition of the world's finest leather. Experience shows that the lofty gaits and different use of the back of a Friesian in comparison to a Warmblood creates a bad fit and most often saddles are either just too small or too large for the Friesian.
The position of the knee roll guarantees a connected and flat position to support the upper leg, which gives the leg a better contact. The billets are fused in a "V" formation to prevent shift to a minimum. A large, soft, padded seat provides comfort and gives the rider more balance. THe specially designed padding system, flocked with wool, ensures good contact and better pressure distribution over the back of the horse. By designing the low point of the seat more forward (as the Friesian horse is built shorter); positions rider correctly int he saddle and shifts the balance more forward on the horse's back.
The Tietse's Choice saddle is also very well applied to other breeds such as the Haflinger, Fjords, and Tinkers (aka Gypsy Cob/Vanner). Uniquely the saddle seat comes in a variety of sizes - 17, 17.3, 17.5, 17.8, and 18.0". Colored piping at your request!

The 4th Level Dressage saddle tree is slightly less deep than that of the model - Tietse's Choice, giving you a bit more freedom in the seat.
Close contact with this special allows you to feel more contact with your horse. The seat is more subtle so you have more legroom. The fender is designed so that your leg lays completely against the horse to achieve the most subtle of aids. The 4th Level Saddle is made from the finest English Leather. This supple leather quickly forms around your horse. The use of Italian Calfskin gives the softness so you can experience the saddle with greater appreciation. The specially designed padding system, flocked with wool, ensures good even contact and pressure distributed over the back of the horse.

Excellent for auto/boat leather interiors, dash and console, leather furniture, boots and jackets, saddles, etc.
Letting tack go for too long without cleaning and conditioning can result in drying out the leather and will eventually crack. Tack must be cleaned -- ideally after every ride. Not many people do it, but everyone agrees they should.
To protect your investment in your saddles and tack, periodic cleaning and conditioning is required. The frequency will depend upon how the saddle is used - the more use - the more cleaning is needed.

Q&A with Jose Mendez - Mr. Mendez, a Spanish-trained Dressage Master, and former rider and trainer for the Spanish Royal School of Equestrian Art has trained and competed worldwide. We are proud to add this Grand Prix rider to our prestigious cast of equine experts throughout the WEG.
