The purchase and use of environmentally-friendly products can have a big impact, and not just on the environment. Buying green affects everything from worker safety to the bottom line. Products that are reusable, refillable, more durable or repairable create less waste and are more cost-effective in the long run than disposable or single-use.

Recycling Solutions
 | Coming full circle on sustainability, Feller Business Solutions is first to market with Recycle Paks for batteries, fluorescent tubes, and compact fluorescent bulbs. This first-of-its-kind program closes the loop on these products and enables proper waste handling in compliance with state and federal laws. Facility managers have been asking for these products to verify that they are handling this waste properly so we worked with Veolia to become a distributor for the Recycle Pak products.
Recycle Paks offer a total prepaid program for recycling. The battery kin includes a UN-rated and DOT approved container, which holds up to 50 lbs of dry cell batteries. Approved recycling boxes come in two sizes for fluorescent bulbs or a pail for 45 to 90 CFL bulbs. Larger sizes, to handle more bulbs are available. All kits include a Proof of Purchase Serial Number and access to online recycling certificate.
Once you purchase a kit, all you have to do is fill it and return it - it's that easy! You receive a certificate after the material is received at the waste reclamation facility, which proves to the EPA and state agencies that you are in compliance.

Tips for Getting the Right People
As your business grows, expands or starts up - the one resource you will eventually need is people. To get a pens, paper, folders, etc. you just need to pick up the phone and place an order - if only hiring were as simple. No matter how you find candidates you have to interview the person, determine if they have the right skills and if they fit into your company's culture. This may sound daunting but there are a few things you can keep in mind to make the process easier.
- Determine what you need in the new person/position not only today but down the road in 6-12 months time.
- Hire with the future in mind.
- Before meeting/interviewing anyone determine what qualities/skills are the most important to you (and don't compromise)
- Create a list of questions to ask each candidate, this way you won't miss anything and it will be easier to compare candidates (don't forget about skills needed, experience and personality)
- Take notes - either during or immediately after. This will help you remember each person and write notes not only about how they answered the questions but traits that you noticed (a go-getter or easy to get along with, etc.).
Only after interviewing all the candidates, review each person and determine who is best for you.
If you have other employees in your business, have the final candidate talk to others so they can get a feel for the company.
