Dear Friends

What will be our harvest this year? If we look back on the seeds which have been sown and the endeavours made over the past months, we may question the nature of this harvest in view of the cosmic "weather conditions" which have been prevailing. We are living at a time when "wrong comes up to face us everywhere". There is a tradition which runs through the major cultures of the world which tells us that as we sow, so shall we reap. Some have come to know this through teachings of the law of karma, others learned it as children through tales of  Mrs Doasyouwouldbedoneby and Mrs Bedonebyasyoudid.

There is no doubt that we are collectively living through a time of reaping.  And yet, when we look again at what is surfacing in our world we can also see so many bright lights shining. There is the renewed hope and goodwill within communities where armies of neighbours turn out with brooms to sweep away debris in a collective response to the savagery of riots.  There is the unity, compassion, and love experienced in Norway in the aftermath of the tragic deaths of so many young people, as they chose to meet cruelty and hate with a unity of Love.  And, not least, there has been the inspirational impulse of fresh energy coming through young people willing to come together to explore brave new ways of operating, innovative ways of seeing, and positive ways of being.

What are the golden fruits of harvest in your life this autumn season?

With love and light

Carol

Message from Janice

The times we are living through are those of tremendous change which involve us learning how to shift to the next stage of evolution for humanity. The following I received innerly and am currently focussing on putting into practice during an unexpected major family challenge.

Many of you are now asked to stand as the New Stonehenge - like standing stones around the planet - receiving and anchoring the Light for the next era. Together, and often unknown to each other, you are asked to anchor this Light and this Love into the etheric body of the earth through which consciousness is held and accessed by those inclined so to do, thereby instituting a new era of planetary humanity on its journey towards a solar age."

So then I asked how we might fulfil this commission and the reply was:

"Firstly with your dedicated will and intent so to do.

Secondly, your conscious and active loving of all life - whether of beauty or ugliness - practising the art of blessing.

Lastly, with every breath - bringing radiant light from the inner worlds into radiant presence in the outer world of assumed reality - remembering that all is one and that the inner and the outer, the masculine and the feminine, the dark and the light are to be harmonised into a sacred whole.  Are you so willing?"

I said, "Yes I would try" and a few days later was facing mega-level life challenges. Let's see if I can hold steady and radiate as we are asked to do in my own 'small corner' just as, I am sure, you are doing in yours.

"Every life form seems to strive

to its maximum except human beings.

How tall will a tree grow?

As tall as it possibly can.

Human beings, on the other hand,

have been given the dignity of choice.

You can choose to be all or you can,

or choose to be less.

Why not stretch to the full

measure of the challenge and

see what all you can do?"

Pilgrimage

The guided pilgrimage 'Sacred Landscapes - Sacred Nature Walking the Golden Way Across the Preseli Mountains' planned in honour of Sir George Trevelyan to celebrate 40 years of the Wrekin Trust was postponed.   However two friends from Reading equipped with OS map donned their walking boots and set off to Carn Menyn, site of the Bluestone, to enjoy an uplifting journey.  For a delightful account of their expedition, please click here. Well done, Jenny and Nina!

"It doesn't take a superhero or a saint

or a lot of money or a large organization to make

meaningful contributions to the good of the world.

Usually it takes just one person doing some

small, relatively simple thing that is born of

their caring heart and a mindful attention

to what someone else needs."

Weekend Seminar

We are delighted that our friend and associate William Meader will be visiting the UK again in November and offering a special weekend seminar in collaboration with the Wrekin Forum entitled "The Presence: the Being You Shall Become".  William is a skilled and experienced teacher of the esoteric teachings of the Ageless Wisdom Tradition, as presented in the work of the Tibetan Djwhal Khul and put into book form by Alice A Bailey. The weekend will take place on 11-13 November at the Carmelite Priory near Oxford, and there are still some residential and non-residential places available.

Please click here for further details, or contact Marolyn, 01707 891286, marolyn.burgess@ntlworld.com

During his November trip William will also be giving a range of talks and seminars in Reading, Edenbridge, Norwich, and Stroud (see Forthcoming Events sheet attached).  If you are interested in this work and would like to arrange an event in your area when he returns in May 2012, please contact Carol, 01243 576634, carolduncan8hl@btinternet.com.

"These are days wherein many adjustments

and changes are being wrought in the world of men.

In the resulting confusion, individuals are appreciating

the necessity for the uniting of their forces and

for cooperation in their efforts, and the need for

group work is more apparent than ever before.

These are days therefore, wherein quietness

and confidence must be your strength,

and wherein the only safeguard lies in

a close searching of all underlying motives."

Group Work

An old friend and associate of the Wrekin Trust has sent us these Quaker notes on the conduct of small group meetings, and we are passing these on to those of you who may be engaged in group work of all kinds. Thank you, Harry.

"A group is more than the sum of its members. The individual members contribute to the group by their "beingness" - motivations, intentions, wisdom and compassion - as well as by their thoughts and words.

A spirit of the session will emerge, whether good or not.

Some hints:

1 Start with a short time of silence - letting go of ego-chatter, recollecting why we are here, and seeing the other participants with acceptance and respect.

2 Allow all participants an equal chance to be heard.

3 Be aware of both what is said and what is not said. Anthony de Mello says: 'truth is never expressed in words - it is sighted suddenly'. So leave space after speaking for ideas to mature. There is no hurry - this is not a ping pong match with winners and losers. The people who say least often contribute most."

YOUR BEST FRIEND AND YOUR WORST ENEMY

"The ego, or individuated self-sense, is

both your best friend and your worst enemy.

It is your best friend because,

in the most positive sense,

it represents your capacity to individuate -

to see yourself as a unique, autonomous entity

and to bear witness to your own experience

with some measure of objectivity.

Individuation is what makes it possible

for you to be a conscious agent of evolution,

a vessel for Spirit in action.

The more profound our individuation,

the more powerfully Spirit can shine through us.

However, ego is also our worst enemy.

And this is because, for too many of us,

over-identification with our separate individuality

obscures the deeper and higher

spiritual dimensions of our being.

It is very important to understand

this paradoxical nature of ego if you,

as an individual, want to take responsibility

for creating the future, as yourself."

In-Communiqué

Our friends and associates the Sundial House Group have been uncovering a treasure-trove of materials inherited from the original Sundial House, and are sharing some of these archive gems in the latest issue of their annual newsletter.  These include a question and answer session on "The Nature and Practice of Meditation" with Dr Roberto Assagioli, and an article on "Working with Light" by Michal J Eastcott.

This issue of their newsletter can be viewed and downloaded from www.creativegroupmeditation.org  which also gives details of a new correspondence training course in creative meditation which will be starting shortly.

"For spirituality to be real,

it has to be expressed by a person -

made available on earth because

someone lives and breathes it,

and someone makes a choice

to trump their emotional habits,

their own personal psychology,

with the proactive expression of love.

Only when the imperative of spiritual expression

trumps the reactive human state

can the authentic human spirit come out."

The Protein Crunch: Civilisation on the Brink

Jason Drew with David Lorimer

We are facing a global food shortage as the protein available from land and marine sources is reducing at a time when the population is increasing in number.  With millions more mouths to feed every day, in this thought-provoking book Jason Drew and David Lorimer ask us to consider what choices we will make and which will be made for us.  As resource depletion and environmental destruction drive food prices ever higher, can science come to the rescue or will we revert to our traditional approach and fight over our remaining resources?

This particularly affects the poor as they spend a higher proportion of their income on food than the rich.  Food price increases have triggered riots and political instability and this will increase. The amount of available land and water is decreasing, as is the output of marine fishmeal - all key agricultural inputs. This points to a food and protein crunch even without the population growth already taking place. Has the Earth reached its carrying capacity?

Read this book and find out.   www.theproteincrunch.com

AWAKENING TO THE TRUTH

"We are watching and experiencing

a society turning to chaos.

That is the essence of change,

that outward forces demolish so that

the inner idea, the spiritual power,

shall be released to re-form.

This is the adventure of

soul metamorphosis.

As we awaken to the truth that

we are eternal spiritual beings who can

dedicate ourselves to the service of the world

as conscious instruments through which the

higher worlds can channel themselves,

so we expand in consciousness and

move into levels of light ...

this is the challenge and destiny of our time."

Sir George Trevelyan 1986
