Dear Friends
The sunshine and showers of April seem to have migrated to May, as I write this on a blustery Bank Holiday afternoon on the south coast. Wherever we are, we have been reminded recently of just how much our lives are affected by "weather conditions" and how the restless core of our planet and the atmospheric currents surrounding it are way beyond our control. How can we still cling to the belief that we are the centre of our particular universe, when we are so forcibly reminded that "not my will" be done!
Collectively and individually we are going through a time when we must expect the unexpected. This gives us the opportunity either to release old patterns gracefully and gratefully, or to suffer the pain and discomfort of trying to cling on to what must be let go.
When facing the unexpected, we move out of our comfort zone and into a different place of awareness. It wakes us up. Often we experience insecurity and fear as taken-for-granted frameworks in our lives shift or simply disappear, but we also have the opportunity to discover deeper levels of trust and go beyond habitual reactions to outer circumstances. Lynn Bell points out that times of change can break open the stuck places in our psyches, and Neale Donald Walsch says "What can be changed is the way you deal with change, and the way you're changed by change".
In doing this, we have to remember that we are not alone. As we come into tune with our deeper selves and with those around us, we realise that we are all part of one collective evolutionary flow and "affairs are now soul size".
Evolutionary Consciousness is the theme of our Annual Round Table this year, when we shall examine together where is it taking us and what needs to change. Further details of the programme and booking form will follow, but meanwhile do make a diary note of the weekend of 29-31 October. For those who would like to focus on "The Awakening: the Christ Principle Emerges" there are still some places left on the residential weekend at Hawkwood College on 21-23 May - please contact as soon as possible info@hawkwoodcollege.co.uk.
With love and blessings

'The spearhead of human evolution
has now turned inwards into every human cell'
Sir George Trevelyan
|
 | Message from Janice |
As Sir George used to say, our individual work now is to discover and activate the light of oneness within us, and our collective role in this evolution of consciousness is to 'feed the tender shoots of integration and wholeness with the compost of our involvement'.
There are several levels to this involvement. Firstly within ourselves we seem to be discovering a new 'light' that is not other than us but needs to live through us. Groups of like-minded souls are coming together, and more recently organisations are linking up. It is now dawning on us that the future includes undertaking our collective responsibility for re-kindling the light of the soul of the world - that spiritual core of light and love that used to be called the 'anima mundi' which integrates both the 'lumen dei' in each of us (St John's gospel, ch 1) and the 'lumen naturae' - the light within nature.
Maybe we are on the edge of grasping how these aspects interact and how our involvement in this 'great work' is to magnetise these interconnections by our loving participation. Janice Dolley |
"Times of change can break apart our world
but they can also break open the stuck places in our psyches.
I have seen miracles, true miracles."
Lynn Bell |
 | Group Work
|
The light can so quickly get covered up by the daily pursuit of our affairs, so we need to remind and re-kindle it within each other. At our place a small group comes together monthly for an afternoon. We call it the Kindle Group for it does just this - re-kindles the light in and between each other. This is happening more and more.
As each regional round table connects people locally, so each grouping develops in its own way. There are around 20 of these groups so far. Some grow into a meditation group or an ongoing informal, mutual learning circle; some organise a café spirituel or day event for others. One group is in the early stages of starting up an holistic education centre. Each is grown from the loving service of a Local Connector and the involvement of others in a core group of some kind.
If you would like to hold a regional round table with others in your area, do get in touch and we will do our best to help.

| Connect, Converge and Co-create | |
A first gathering of representatives of 10 associate organisations was held in London on 21 April to 'connect, converge and co-create' and to initiate a process of connection.
As organisations come together to work collaboratively on specific projects or organise joint events, so a web of connections is strengthened between those working in the field of spiritual awareness. These practical outworkings underpin a subtler field of collective connection at a time when old patterns and structures are being outgrown and we are being taken forward into new ways of living and co-existing on this planet.
We look forward to the organic growth and development of this work in due season. If your organisation would like to be represented at a future meeting to discover how further links can be developed at local, regional, and national levels, please contact Carol or Janice. |

| RT10 - Evolutionary Consciousness: where is it taking us and what needs to change? | |
This will be the theme of this year's Annual Round Table at Hawkwood College over the weekend of 29-31 October. At this time of momentous shifts for the planet, for society, and for ourselves, we plan to focus on a sense of the direction of the impetus which is carrying us forward into a new vision of how we might be, while becoming aware of just how much we need to release the old patterns which have held us for so long.
Do come and be part of this investigation into a new level of consciousness and of living. Please put the dates in your diary. More details and booking form will follow later. |

| Help Needed - Calling All Volunteers | |
The endeavour in which we are engaged is calling upon each of us to be involved. Some are already fully occupied in good work, and we hope that connecting with others helps you to see your unique part in the emerging jigsaw of new patterns and that the Wrekin Forum can assist this process. Others are directly contributing to Wrekin Forum work and we truly thank you for this indispensable contribution . . . and we need more!
We need someone to help with publicising events, someone with time to help with the website, someone to help co-ordinate the regional groupings, someone to help prepare the annual round table, someone to help link those who would like to offer talks, workshops etc with those willing to host them.
If you have an ounce of energy, a pinch of skills or a few moments of time then do please let one of us know.

GREENSPIRIT: PATH TO A NEW CONSCIOUSNESS
Marian Van Eyk McCain (Editor) with a Foreword by Satish Kumar
Published by O Books, 2010, £11.99
At last, here is the definitive guide to green spirituality that I have always wanted to read.
Green spirituality, as this book explains, is far more than a blend of spirituality and Nature. It is a total paradigm shift. It involves seeing the world through new eyes and making spirituality relevant to today's fast changing culture and lifestyles. Green spirituality draws from many spiritual traditions as well as science. It covers eco-justice, social justice, honouring the shadow, creativity, economics, education and much, much more.
Each of the book's 31 chapters is by a different writer. This approach is green spirit in itself, offering diversity to make a unique whole. No one person or outlook contains all of the answers. Some of the contributors to the book may be familiar names; examples include Matthew Fox, Brian Swimme, Satish Kumar, Emma Restall Orr, David Korten and Neil Douglas-Klotz. Others are less well-known but each has something important to add.
The book is well structured. It starts with an understanding of our world and our place in it, then moves to looking through the lenses of different spiritual traditions and finally to practical outworking. I found the book to be coherent and flowing.
But don't be put off by the breadth of the vision and the occasional technical word. The book brings home to me how green spirituality, at its heart, is simple common sense. How, if we act with compassion for all things, both people and planet, and in tune with Nature's laws and processes, we have the opportunity to live meaningful, joyful and hopeful lives.

"Common sense brings about healing because
it is more than a way of thinking; it is a way of living,
a way of acting, a way of doing that makes sense -
of doing it spontaneously, unselfconsciously, effortlessly.
You experience a glimpse of this when you 'hit the sweet spot'
in jogging, typing, dancing, or whatever the activity may be:
suddenly you are 'in the flow' and everything happens smoothly
in the right way and at the right moment."
"A lifetime may not be enough
to attune ourselves fully to the harmony of the universe.
But just to become aware that we can resonate with it -
that alone can be like waking up from a dream."
Brother David Steindl-Rast
