Greetings,
Since my last newsletter, my life has had a few significant changes and milestones, and I'm writing to share with you some of these recent developments.
"Thrills & Chills" has opened at the Corden|Potts Gallery in San Francisco and will be on exhibit through the end of the month.
Later this week, the first solo show of my Elderly Animals project opens at the Galveston Arts Center in Galveston, TX. I will be giving a talk about my work on Saturday evening at the opening (see below).
In early April, my Elderly Animals project was featured on PDN's Photo of the Day blog. To my utter astonishment, my work went viral on the Internet over the course of the following weeks. Thousands of blogs and Tumblr sites from around the globe have written about the work, including highly popular blogs like My Modern Metropolis and Flavorwire. Thousands more people have shared the work on Facebook and Twitter. People from over 100 different countries have visited my web site since April. This online attention has led to articles about my work appearing in The Guardian & Observer, The Washington Post, and Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin (SZ-Magazin). I feel deeply grateful for the outpouring of support this work has received.
In May, Matt & I moved to Philadelphia, PA. I was sad to leave Houston, which has a vibrant and supportive arts community, and I plan to keep close personal and professional ties to the region. I feel fortunate though to have moved to another city with a strong photography community and look forward to reconnecting with my friends & family on the east coast.

Other News
"Blue, Australian Kelpie, Age 19, I" from my Elderly Animals series was included in a slideshow that was projected in the FotoVisura Pavilion for the 2011 New York Photo Festival. The slideshow accompanied a discussion entitled "E-Cite: The Phenomena of Online Blogs & Magazines" that was moderated by James Estrin, co-editor of the NY Times Lens Blog & Senior Staff Photographer and consisted of the following panelists: Kira Pollack, Director of Photography, Time Magazine, Holly Stuart Hughes, Executive Editor, PDN, David Walter Banks, Luceo Images, and Adriana Teresa Letorney, Publisher, Visura Magazine/FotoVisura.com. Holly Stuart Hughes talked about my project in her remarks on this panel.
"Dissenchantment" from my Thrills & Chills series was recently awarded an Honorable Mention in the Black and White Spider Awards for the People category for Professional Photographers.
"The Wave" from my Thrills & Chills series was published in Volume III of Diffusion Magazine as an editor's selection from the 2010 Photolucida Critical Mass.
