Summer 2010 News
|
Greetings,
I'm in the midst of my first Texas summer, and I've developed a deep appreciation for air conditioning and sweet iced tea. That said, I've not been in Houston much over the last month and will be traveling quite a bit in the coming months to create new work. I just returned from a muchly needed vacation in Northern California and I also recently spent a week in New Jersey shooting for my Thrills & Chills project.
While on the East Coast, I visited Philadelphia for the opening of Gallery 339's In Review show. I attended Haverford College, so my trip to Philly was a homecoming of sorts. I was happy to see familiar faces at the reception and by the end of the night I had made a few new friends. I was heartened to discover that Philadelphia has a vibrant and inviting photo community and I look forward to my next visit there.
In Review will be up through September 4th, so there's still plenty of time to see the show. My work is also included in summer shows at the John
Cleary Gallery in Houston, TX and at the RayKo
Photo Center in San Francisco, CA. For details on these exhibits & upcoming events, see below.
In a few weeks, I will visit a wildlife sanctuary in Texas to photograph elderly capuchin monkeys, mountain lions and bears for my Elderly Animals project. I am currently contacting other sanctuaries in search of leads for this project. I look forward to sharing new images with you soon.
Because I'm focusing on making new work, I'm going to take a brief break from this newsletter. During this time, though, I will continue to check e-mail and I will still regularly Tweet and update my Facebook page. I look forward to hearing from you.
Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Warm Regards, Isa

BW Gallerist Feature
My work was recently featured on the BW Gallerist blog. Author Forrest Old writes, "Isa may in
fact be an emerging artist, but her progress in 2010 with multiple
shows around the country point ot this being a time of career
acceleration for her (collectors note!)." Read the full interview, which
includes a discussion on why I enjoy working with Holgas, here.

Thrills & Chills Catalog Updates
This past month my Thrills & Chills exhibition catalog has been added to the holdings of the Southeast Museum of Photography
Reference Library in Daytona Beach, FL and the John Cleary Library at the Houston Center for Photography
in Houston, TX. The catalog is also in the collections of the National Art Library at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, England, the Boston Public
Library in Boston, MA, and the Indie Photobook
Library in Arlington, VA. The catalog will be on display at the inaugural Indie Photobook Library exhibit at the Flash
Forward Festival in Toronto October 6-10, 2010.
It's still not too late to add the catalog to your library. Copies of both the catalog and a signed, limited edition archival pigment
print of "The Wave" are still available for purchase through my online store.
