June 2010 News

Finn Sheep, Both Age 12

Greetings,

I'm packing to head to Philadelphia for the opening of In Review at Gallery 339, which
will be held on Friday evening from 6-8 PM. If you're in the area, please stop by and say hi. Six of my elderly animal portraits will be exhibited in the show, which includes images by some of my favorite contemporary photographers: Kyohei Abe, Peter Ainsworth, Gabriel Benaim, John Chervinsky, Chang Kim, Joel Lederer, Hannah Price, Dustin Ream, and Phillip Toledano. I am grateful for this exhibition opportunity, which came as a result of a portfolio review with Martin McNamara at Fotofest in March. About my work, the Gallery 339 web site states:
"Affecting yet unsentimental, these images gently suggest the inevitability of aging and mortality."

In Review will be up at Gallery 339 through September 4th. Images from this project will also be exhibited later this summer at the John Cleary Gallery in Houston, TX and at the RayKo Photo Center in San Francisco, CA (see below).

After a brief stay in Philadelphia, I plan on spending a few weeks on the east coast, shooting for my Thrills & Chills project and attending an Exhibition Lab workshop in NYC. I'll have some availability for meetings in NJ or NY from June 19-29 and would enjoy seeing you.

Thanks for reading! As always, I look forward to hearing from you.

Warm Regards,
Isa

Prix de la Photographie, Paris (Px3) Awards

My elderly animals project received two Prix de la Photographie, Paris (Px3) Awards: Professional Book/Series: Nature and Professional Photojournalism: Nature/Environmental. Here is my listing on the Px3 web site. The selected images from this project will be published in a book produced by Px3 that will be available in 2011.

Thrills & Chills Catalog + Special Print Offer

Last month, I announced the sale of my "Thrills & Chills" exhibition catalog and special limited edition archival pigment print of "The Wave". I am very happy by the response this sale has received and am thankful for your support. Collectors from across the US and in Portugal, Switzerland, and Australia have purchased catalogs and/or prints.

In addition, the catalog has been added to the holdings of the
National Art Library at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, England, the Boston Public Library in Boston, MA, and the Indie Photobook Library in Arlington, VA. In his review of the catalog, David Bram, founder and editor of Fraction Magazine, states: "I knew [Isa] would put a lot of love, sweat, and...tears into [her catalog] and now that I have it, I can honestly say that she did. It is lovely."

Copies of both the catalog and print are still available for purchase and orders can be placed below in this e-mail or by visiting my online store.
