February 2010 News

Greetings,
Last month I alluded to a special project I was working on, and it's now at a point where I can share the details. I am publishing a catalog of my Thrills & Chills images to accompany my upcoming solo exhibit at the Griffin Museum of Photography in April. The catalog, which will be released on March 29th, will be 32 pages long and will contain 19 images and accompanying text.
This catalog is my first publishing project and it has been a scary and exhilarating experience, not unlike the rides I photograph. I decided to publish the catalog myself instead of going the on-demand route because I wanted to print it on an offset press for improved print quality. I also had greater creative control over details like the paper on which the catalog is printed.
I have been fortunate to collaborate on this project with my friend James Goncalves who is a super-talented graphic designer. I reviewed final proofs this morning and I can't wait for you to see what we've produced. For a sneak peak of the cover, check out the announcement page I set up on my web site.
I plan for this catalog to be the first of many publishing projects that will be produced by my new company, Exit 12 Press. The next newsletter will include details on how to purchase the catalog from my web site. I also am planning to announce a special print sale to commemorate the release of this catalog.
I hope you are all doing well and I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks for reading!
Warm Regards, Isa

Boston Public Library Print Sale
I am excited to announce that 5 prints from my Thrills & Chills series have been purchased by the Boston Public Library for their permanent print collection. They are: "Girls on the Buccaneer, Hershey Park, PA", "Coaster Spine", "Flying", "Pirate Ship, Topsfield Fair, MA", and "Zipper Ride".
This sale is my first to a public institution and is a career milestone that I am proud of. Thanks to this purchase my work will have a life that extends far beyond my own. I am very grateful to Aaron Schmidt and BPL Print Department for making this investment in my work.

was recently awarded the People's Choice Award for Photography at the New England Art Awards Ball that was held on February 8, 2010. I want to extend a big warm thank you to all of you who voted for me! I also want to thank Greg Cook for organizing the awards and for his tireless efforts to promote the arts in New England. Congrats to all of this year's winners.
