Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior!
April was an exciting month for American Baptist home
mission, and the operative word here is mission. We are dedicated to carrying on the commitment to mission across
the United States and Puerto Rico established by our forefathers and foremothers in the 19th century. We
affirmed that in so many ways in April. Read on to find
out how ... and why.

Lifting up our history, lifting up our
commitment to mission
|
Last month, National Ministries celebrated the anniversary of a founding organization, The American Baptist Home Mission Society, by worshiping near its birthplace in New York City and reaffirming the commitment to a centuries-long history of mission by announcing it will now carry out ministry as American Baptist Home Mission Societies. Read about this historic day; download the new logo for region and local church communications; and get answers to Frequently Asked Questions about the change.

Summer conference for Karen youth offers faith development and fun |
July's conference for Karen youth, sponsored by American Baptist Home Mission Societies, offers Bible study, worship and workshops that promise faith development as well as opportunities for personal growth. From dating to getting ready for college and "Understanding Yourself," conference workshops offer guidance through the stormy waters of young adulthood--perhaps even stormier for a young person in a foreign culture. A talent show and choir competition are bound to bring moments of fun, too. Help spread the word about this Minnesota conference.

Our scavenger hunts in the last two issues have been so popular, we're keeping the momentum going. This month we're offering new ABHMS mugs free to the first six responders who find the six-digit code within brackets on one of the pages linked to this e-newsletter. After you locate the code, send it to karen.drummond@abhms.org. Then wake up to the vibrant colors of the new ABHMS logo while you sip your morning coffee. Once again, Happy Hunting!
