Come "Together in the Lord" in Orlando
Together in the Lord logo The new year is the perfect time for personal renewal. And that's just what you'll find at ABCUSA's "Together in the Lord," January 4-7, 2010. This ministry renewal conference, held in Orlando, Fla., will feature preaching and teaching, not to mention opportunities for networking and connecting with other ministry professionals for the rejuvenation that comes with sharing challenges and successes. Oh yes, and then there's the location--the Wyndham Orlando Resort with its lush gardens and idyllic lagoons. Now that's a setting for some real R&R.
Welcoming the stranger is work for all American Baptists
Burmese woman and childABCUSA's Burma Refugee Task Force is a cooperative effort of National Ministries, International Ministries, the Office of the General Secretary and American Baptist Women's Ministries, along with leadership from pastors and lay leaders of local congregations. This year the group awarded 38 grants, seven more than last year, to American Baptists working with Burmese refugees in the United States. The need to extend Christ's hand of welcome to these strangers coming to our shores is ever increasing. What can your church do to help?
Share the Good News with Style
Got Style book coverAn important part of being a Christian is sharing the Good News of the peace, joy and redemption that comes with accepting Christ. But it can be hard to stand on street corners handing out leaflets to strangers. Here's more good news: National Ministries' Dr. Jeff Johnson offers another way in his new book, Got Style? Personality-Based Evangelism. Find out how you can share your faith in a way that's comfortable for you--and those who need to hear the hope of Jesus Christ too.
With National Ministries help, American Baptists are transforming the Gulf Coast
Ecumenical Build VolunteersAt last month's ecumenical work week in New Orleans, La., sponsored by the National Council of Churches USA, American Baptist volunteers represented more than half of the work force. These volunteers, coordinated by National Ministries' office of Volunteer Ministries, included close to four dozen youth and some first-timers, who found the experience life changing. Find out why.
