Hello!
In addition to the continuing talks for the development of the waterpark, there is another company,Cheney Brothers, a major food distributor , that is considering coming to Punta Gorda . Details are still under negotiation, but if the Cheney Brothers company decides to build a distribution center near the Punta Gorda airport, then it could mean the creation of an additional 700 jobs to the area.
If you need any area or real estate information, please give me a call!

Homestead Fraud
Charlotte County Property Appraiser, Frank Desguin is checking every property facing foreclosure to make sure there are people actually living in the house. Banks who own foreclosures have not been paying their fair share of taxes in many cases, by claiming the homestead exemption on the properties when the owners have just walked away and the houses are vacant. Notices are being sent out and homeowners have 2 weeks to respond to the county. If there is no response, or owners can't prove they actually live in the house by showing a voters registration card or drivers license, then the homestead exemption is being revoked. |

According to an article in the South Floirda Sun Sentinal, JP Morgan Chase and Wells Fargo banks are offering cash settlements to homeowners who are behind in their payments -in exchange for agreeing to do a short sale. This program is to offer Homeowners an alternative to foreclosure. However not
everyone gets offered the cash incentive and the banks aren't discussing the
criteria required. Wells Fargo stated that cash is being offered where the foreclosure process is very lengthy based on individual circumstances.
The average time for foreclosures in Florida for the first 3 months in 2011, was 619 days. In New York the average foreclosure is 966 days. |

Government as Landlord?
The Obama administration is discussing a plan to take foreclosed homes off the market and rent them out. The goal behind this idea is to prevent home values from falling further. Foreclosures, being distressed sales, always pull the general market down. Another idea according to the Wall St. Journal, would be to sell homes to investors who would then rent them out and handle the rentals of the homes. |
