Linking Arms in Partnership With The USO
USO Logo"When I commanded the Second Infantry Division in Korea, the USO was a critical link between the "battlefront" and the "homefront," says Major General Bob Dees, (U.S. Army, Retired), Executive Director of Military Ministry. "With most soldiers on unaccompanied tours, the USO was truly a home away from home. In fact, for each of my assignments at home and abroad for 31 years in the Army, I found USO to be present for duty, always providing "TLC" for troops and families alike. God Bless the USO."

General Dees' most recent observation is that "the USO is getting better and better, and more relevant to the true needs of troops and families with each passing day. In the past month alone, I have visited five USOs across the country. At each location, I have found open arms for troops and families, as well as veterans. And I know that America can count on the USO "until everyone comes home," and far beyond that."

One Mother + One Community = Support for Thousands of Soldiers
Support the TroopsDuring her son's deployment to Afghanistan, she describes waking up with "the dreads" - that feeling in the pit of your stomach that calls for deep prayer. Even though she had been a Christian Counselor for 30 years, Dr. LuAnn Callaway needed support from someone who could understand what she and her husband were going through - the isolation and worry. She wanted to know what her son might be going through and what to expect when he came home.

God answered LuAnn's prayers and began revealing resources and support that she knew would make a difference - in the life of her family and the lives of many more. Armed with this new-found knowledge, she mobilized her entire community to rally around her son's returning brigade. LuAnn contacted 93 churches and every counselor she knew and asked them to join her in preparing for these troops. She told them, "We have 4,000 soldiers, the 48th Infantry, Georgia National Guard, who are coming home in 6 months and we have to be ready for them." Read More...

2.3 Million Bibles to Our Troops!

Rapid Deployment Kit

Military Ministry Spiritual Resources Director Tom Hite reports that total shipments of Rapid Deployment Kits (RDKs) have passed the 2.3 million milestone.

RDKs are Military Ministry's primary ministry for getting Bibles to our troops. Every RDK is made possible because of the generous support of our donors, the great partnership we have with the American Bible Society, and the dedication of Military Ministry volunteers who lovingly assemble every single RDK package. RDK's include a camo-cover New Testament, a 90-day "Our Daily Bread" devotional, and a presentation of the Gospel.

U.S. military Chaplains request RDKs by the thousands each month, and these are distributed freely to any military member who wants one. Demand has never been higher. To find out how you can get involved in this powerful ministry, click here. If you are a Chaplain, Chaplain's Assistant or Unit Commander, click here for information on how to request RDKs.
