Dear Friends:
You might think from the title that I am going to write about diet and heart disease. Although a high-fat and high protein diet of animal flesh can lead to heart problems, there is another angle to heart health that I want to discuss today.
The following quote will show you exactly what I mean: "Those who would work in God's service must not be seeking worldly gratification and selfish indulgence. The physicians in our institutions must be imbued with the living principles of health reform. Men will never be truly temperate until the grace of Christ is an abiding principle in the heart. All the pledges in the world will not make you or your wife health reformers. No mere restriction of your diet will cure your diseased appetite. Brother and Sister [?] will not practice temperance in all things until their hearts are transformed by the grace of God.
Circumstances cannot work reforms. Christianity proposes a reformation in the heart. What Christ works within, will be worked out under the dictation of a converted intellect. The plan of beginning outside and trying to work inward has always failed, and always will fail. God's plan with you is to begin at the very seat of all difficulties, the heart, and then from out of the heart will issue the principles of righteousness; the reformation will be outward as well as inward." Counsels on Diet and Foods, p. 35.
Friends, how many times have you lost the battle over appetite? We try time after time to stop eating the wrong foods. We desire to live a better lifestyle, but the carnal pull of appetite usually wins the war every time. What people need to learn is that they will never gain the victory over appetite in their own strength. Like with any habit or habitual sin, we cannot, by our own effort, win the battle over the lust of the flesh any more than we can change the color of our skin. I am sure you are familiar with the Scripture: "Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? Then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil?" Jeremiah 13:23.
Friends, the only way we can ever expect victory over our appetite is by allowing Christ to live His righteous life in us by faith. The grace of God -- His transforming power -- makes us new creatures complete with new desires and appetites. This is also referred to as the new birth experience or conversion.
Now pay close attention. Many Christians are trying to work their way to heaven. They try to stop sinning by correcting their bad habits and find themselves in a quandary. They grit their teeth and put forth all the human effort they can muster up only to fail for the hundredth time. They struggle and fail over and over throughout their lifetimes. The problem is that they have never understood what Romans defines as "the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus" that makes us free from "the law of sin and death." Romans 8:2 This is Christ working in us instead of our human effort alone which spells failure.
You see, the law demands obedience but man cannot keep the law of God in his own strength any more than he can lift the Empire State Building. That is why Paul cried out: "O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?" Romans 7:24. The answer to Paul's dilemma was Jesus Christ. Christ alone can furnish the power for man to overcome, and then the victory is ours as Jesus lives out His perfect righteous life in us. That is why Paul said: "For I delight in the law of God after the inward man." Verse 22. Paul understood that the New Covenant involves God putting His law in your mind and writing them in your heart. (See Hebrews 8:9, 10.
Now think of the battle over appetite and your failures for so many years. The problem is that you haven't learned that "Christ in you (Col 1:27)" is the only way you will experience victory. Instead of praying for God to give you temperance and patience, try praying that Christ will live His patience and temperate life in you. The divine miracle is "Christ in you," then His law-keeping life (The law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus -- He is the only one that kept the law and lived it.) "will be manifest in our mortal flesh." (See 2 Corinthians 4:11). Think of Christ living in you rather than you doing the work. After all, the Bible teaches that we cannot do any good thing apart from Christ and that His Father does the works. The abiding presence of Christ must come into us -- into our hearts: "The religion of Christ means more than the forgiveness
of sin; it means taking away our sins, and filling the vacuum with the graces of the Holy Spirit. It means divine illumination, rejoicing in God. It means a heart emptied of self, and blessed with the abiding presence of Christ. When Christ reigns in the soul, there is purity, freedom from sin. The glory, the fullness, the completeness of the gospel plan is fulfilled in the life.
"The acceptance of the Saviour brings a glow of perfect peace, perfect love, perfect assurance. The beauty and fragrance of the character of Christ revealed in the life testifies that God has indeed sent His Son into the world to be its Saviour. COL pp. 419, 420.
How does Christ do this? "Christ has made a way of escape for us. He lived on earth amid trials and temptations such as we have to meet. He lived a sinless life. He died for us, and now He offers to take our sins and give us His righteousness. If you give yourself to Him, and accept Him as your Saviour, then, sinful as your life may have been, for His sake you are accounted righteous. Christ's character stands in place of your character, and you are accepted before God just as if you had not sinned." SC 62.
"You are to maintain this connection with Christ by faith and the continual surrender of your will to Him; and so long as you do this, He will work in you to will and to do according to His good pleasure. ... Then with Christ working in you, you will manifest the same spirit and do the same good works --works of righteousness, obedience. ... So we have nothing in ourselves of which to boast. We have no ground for self-exaltation. Our only ground of hope is in the righteousness of Christ imputed to us, and in that wrought by His Spirit working in and through us. SC 62, 63.
What most Christians fail to realize is that not only does Christ pardon our confessed sins, He also changes the heart and makes it like His: "He functions inside of you as you receive Him by faith, as you respond to His love. As you love Him, He permeates your mind and takes control of you. You become obsessed with Him and He possess you. Then He operates His own good pleasure in you. His pleasure, of course, is to do His Father's will, which is obedience to His law. This is what happens in the new birth and this is a marvelous thing. We must never depreciate all that God offers us." Christ Our Righteousness, by J.W. Lehman , p. 50.
"Genuine faith appropriates the righteousness of Christ, and the sinner is made an overcomer with Christ; for he is made a partaker of the divine nature, and thus divinity and humanity are combined. He who is trying to reach heaven by his own works in keeping the law is attempting an impossibility. Man cannot be saved without obedience, but his works should not be of himself; Christ should work in him to will and to do of His good pleasure. If a man could save himself by his own works, he might have something in himself in which to rejoice. ... All that man can do without Christ is polluted with selfishness and sin; but that which is wrought through faith is acceptable to God. When we seek to gain heaven through the merits of Christ, the soul makes progress. "Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith," we may go on from strength to strength, from victory to victory; for through Christ the grace of God has worked out our complete salvation. Faith and Works, pp. 93, 94.
May the Lord bless you as you fully surrender your heart to Him. Make the complete and full surrender today and experience Jesus in your life like never before. He will make His abode in you, and through His divine presence you will experience the victory over your appetites and passions in your mortal flesh. I finally got tired of struggling with my sins and failures and accepted "the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus" and the fact that it alone can set me free from the law of sin and death. I thank and praise God for the new birth experience. |

Months ago I sent out an urgent prayer request for my children who were being harassed and threatened by a man at the time I was writing my new book, The Final  Inquisition. I have never received so many responses to an email in my life! We received over four hundred emails in just two days! Bill Hughes, one of my best friends and author of The Secret Terrorists, convinced me to write the book which he called "excellent and awesome." Bill had called me after reading the issue of The Elijah Prophecy entitled, "Jesuit Infiltrator Exposed" and said, "Danny, I smell a new book. And in the midst of the chaos, the United States elected the first African-American president, Barack Hussein Obama, who promised change in America, and Pope Benedict XVI pressed for a law in the European Union that would have forced all Europeans to rest on Sunday. Amazing times we are living in!
"Yet, of all the negative reports mentioned above, the one issue that concerns me the most is when any leader, whether the Pope of Rome or an American President, tries to force people to rest on a day that most of the world recognizes as a religious day of worship--in this case Sunday. Every person should reserve the right to exercise liberty of conscience and rest on the day he chooses as the Lord's Day, whether that day is Friday, Saturday or Sunday." (From Chapter 1--Bible Prophecy and the Coming Crisis).
"Malachi Martin, an expert on the Catholic Church and former Jesuit [?] and professor at the Vatican's Pontifical Institute, writes in The Keys of This Blood, of a 'winner-take-all' race for the first one-world government on the face of this earth. The global powers in the contest are the Soviet Union under Mikhail Gorbachev, Western Capitalism led by the United States, and the Pope's universal Catholic Church and the Vatican itself. Malachi Martin says that Pope John Paul II initiated this 'millennium endgame' because his goal is the destruction of Communism and Capitalism and to establish a one-world government or New World Order that 'will control us as a community.' Gorbachev humbled himself by kissing his ring and calling Pope John Paul 'the highest moral authority on earth.' President Clinton did the same, but addressed the Roman Pontiff as 'Holy Father.' When President Bush was asked what he saw when he looked into the eyes of Pope Benedict XVI, he answered, 'God.' Amazing, the words of Martin Luther, Roman Catholic monk and Father of the Protestant Reformation are ringing in my ear: 'I know now that the pope is antichrist, and that his throne is that of Satan himself.' Like the Waldenses, Luther's theology challenged the authority of the papacy by holding that the Bible is the only infallible source of religious authority.
"Remember, Students, the Soviet Union was the first to fall and collapsed as of January 1, 1992 by the efforts of Pope John Paul and American President Ronald Reagan. Three minus one equals two. Two players left in the 'millennium endgame'--the United States of America and the Vatican! The Pope of the Inquisition has no plans to lose the game! As I watch the trillions of dollars lost on Wall Street, the billion-dollar stimulus packages, and the Federal Reserve printing unlimited, soon-to be worthless, amounts of paper money like it was a Monopoly game, I get the message that the Vatican and its Jesuit chessmen are close to calling checkmate on Western capitalism and the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America!" (From Chapter 11 - The Deadly Wound Was Healed).
