Dairy Increases Prostate Cancer
Dear Friends:
This week I want to share some insightful and scientific informa-tion on the connection between prostate cancer and the intake of dairy products.
"Prostate cancer is the fourth most common malignancy among men worldwide, with an estimated 400,000 new cases diagnosed annually, accounting for 3.9 percent of all new cancer cases. 1 Epid-emiologic evidence strongly suggests that dietary factors play a major role in prostate cancer progression and mortality, with protective effects associated with consumption of fruit (particularly tomatoes), vitamin E, and selenium, and increased risk linked to dairy products, meat, and fat.
"Dairy product consumption has been associated with prostate cancer risk in divergent populations, and several studies have investi-gated mechanisms that may explain these findings. This review describes studies reporting prostate cancer risk in relation to milk or dairy products generally. It does not include studies reporting only intake of individual milk derivatives, such as butter, or nutrients, such as fat.
"Prostate cancer is one of the most common malignancies worldwide, with an estimated 400,000 new cases diagnosed annually. Its incidence and mortality have been associated with milk or dairy product consumption in international and interregional cor-relational studies.
"As a result, case-control and cohort studies have further investigated this association and are described in this review. Of 12 case-control studies, six found significant associations, as did five of 11 cohort studies, with relative risk of prostate cancer among those with the most frequent dairy product consumption ranging between 1.3 and 2.5, with evidence of a dose-response relationship. Mechanisms that may explain this association include the deleterious effect of high-calcium foods on vitamin D balance, the tendency of frequent dairy intake to increase serum insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) concentrations, and the effect of dairy products on testosterone concentration or activity.
"Two studies in northern Italy compared prostate cancer patients with hospital controls, finding increased risk of prostate cancer among those with the most frequent milk consumption. Similarly, a study at Roswell Park Memorial Institute in Buffalo, N.Y., found an increased risk of prostate cancer with the daily consumption of three or more glasses of whole milk, compared with never drinking milk. In Montevideo, Uruguay, a comparison of prostate cancer patients with hospital controls, most of whom had other forms of cancer, found an increased risk of prostate cancer associated with drinking two or more milk servings per day, compared with having less than one serving per day. In �rebro county, Sweden, men with prostate cancer were compared with controls selected from a population register. Higher dairy product consumption was associated with increased relative risk of prostate cancer.
"Dairy products may influence the incidence or progression of prostate cancer by several possible mechanisms. One for which evidence is particularly compelling is the effect of high-calcium foods on vitamin D metabolism. In several prospective studies, calcium intake has emerged as an independent predictor of prostate cancer risk.
"Dairy product consumption has also been shown to increase serum concentrations of insulin-like growth factor (IGF-I). Case-control studies in diverse populations have shown a strong and consistent association between serum IGF-I concentrations and prostate cancer risk. In men and women aged 55 to 85 years, the addition of three daily eight-ounce servings of nonfat or 1 percent milk for 12 weeks was associated with a 10 percent increase in serum IGF-I concentration (P<0.001). Mean serum IGF-I concentration among vegans was shown to be 8 percent lower than among ovolacto-vegetarians and 9 percent lower than among meat-eaters
"Changing dietary protein sources from animal sources to plant sources has been shown to reduce serum IGF-I concentrations.
"Most dairy products contain substantial amounts of fat and are devoid of fiber, a combination that is likely to increase serum testosterone concentration and activity.
"Dietary factors other than dairy products are also associated with risk. Generally speaking, diets high in animal products are associated with higher risk, while those rich in plant foods, particularly tomatoes, are associated with reduced risk. Daily soymilk consumption was associated with a significant reduction in prostate cancer risk in a cohort of 13,855 Seventh-Day Adventist men.
"Isoflavones in soymilk inhibit growth of human prostate cancer cells and also inhibit 5a-reductase, an enzyme that converts testosterone to 5a-dihydrotestosterone in the prostate.42 A similar beneficial effect was demonstrated for tofu consumption. Based on experience with a case-control study in Athens, Greece, researchers calculated that the combined effect of reducing dairy consumption, substituting olive oil for other added fats, and increasing tomato intake to the levels consumed by those in the lowest risk categories could reduce prostate cancer risk in their population by 41 percent.
"Evidence from international, case-control, and cohort studies suggests that men who avoid dairy products are at lower risk for prostate cancer incidence and mortality.
"Men who choose to avoid dairy products reap other nutritional benefits, such as a reduction in total fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol intake."

Cheese and Testicular Cancer
"In October of 2003, the largest study on diet and testicular cancer ever conducted was published, studying the diets of hundreds of cancer victims. After cheese consumption, the second strongest dietary risk factor for testicular cancer seemed to be the consumption of lunch meat." International Journal of Cancer 106 (2003): p. 934.
Processed Meat and Cancer
"The University of Hawaii released a new study that shows people who consume processed meats have a 67% increased risk of pancreatic cancer over those who consume little or no meat products.
"The study was done over a period of seven years on nearly 200,000 people. Researchers pin the blame on sodium nitrite, a chemical used in nearly all processed meats, including sausage, hot dogs, jerkies, bacon, lunch meat, and even meats in canned soup products.
"Sodium nitrite is a precursor to highly carcinogenic nitrosamines -- potent cancer-causing chemicals that accelerate the formation and growth of cancer cells throughout the body.
"Stomach Cancer
Nitrates and nitrites, such as those in hot dogs, lunch meats, and other cured meats, increase food levels of nitrates, which can lead to the formation of carcinogenic nitrosamines in the stomach. Processed meats are often salted or smoked, or nitrites may be added to them, in order to prolong their shelf-life. It may be the case that these treatments increase the risk of developing stomach cancer, but previous studies have given contradictory results.
"Said Susanna Larsson, research student at The Institute of Environmental Medicine at Karolinska Institute in Sweden, 'We decided to carry out a meta-analysis. This is an analysis in which we collated all research into processed meats and stomach cancer that we could find.'
"They found 15 studies, covering 4,704 subjects in the period 1966 to 2006, and the results are unequivocal: the risk of developing stomach cancer increases by between 15% and 38% when consumption of processed meat products increases by 30gm (approximately a half-portion) per day."

Wine Drinking and Breast Cancer
"Even a drink or two a day of alcohol may raise the risk of the most common type of breast tumors-those fueled by the hormones estrogen and progesterone, according to one of the largest studies if its kind.
"A second study shows that specific variations within two genes involved in metabolizing alcohol are associated with an increased risk for breast cancer in postmenopausal women.
"While the studies do not prove cause and effect, they lend plausibility to growing evidence implicating drinking as a risk factor for breast cancer, says Elizabeth Platz, ScD, a specialist in cancer prevention at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
"The beauty of the research is that it tells us something about the mechanisms" by which alcohol may raise breast cancer risks , she tells WebMD.
"Platz moderated a news conference to discuss the findings at the annual meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research.
"Some breast tumors are fueled by hormones, while others are not. In the first study, National Cancer Institute (NCI) researchers wanted to determine if the hormone status of a tumor influences the relationship between alcohol use and breast cancer risk.
"The researchers reviewed data on 184,418 postmenopausal women, who answered questions about how much alcohol and what type of alcohol they drank each day. They were followed for an average of seven years.
"Overall, moderate drinking raised the risk of developing breast cancer, regardless of whether a woman's preference was for beer, wine, or hard liquor. And the more she drank, the greater the risk. CBS News, Feb. 2, 2009. |

DRUMS, DANCING, AND NOISE
Greetings!
Some of you may not like what I am about to say, but please hear me out before you stop reading this issue of The Elijah Prophecy. As I was writing the last chapter of my new book, The Final Inquisition, I thought about how the devil will work to deceive the very elect, just before probation closes.
We have been warned: "through two great errors, the immortality of the soul and Sunday sacredness, Satan will bring the people under his deceptions" and many will be lost. (The Great Controversy, p. 588).
Pope Benedict XVI, the "Pope of the Inquisition," also known as "God's Rottweiler", believes the Roman Catholic Church is the "One True Church." Newsweek, Dec. 29, 2008/Jan. 5, 2009. The Bible prophesies that the pope of Rome will be recognized, by most of Christendom, as the great moral leader of the world. But the Bible also warns in Daniel 7 and Revelation 13 that the papacy is the Antichrist. Pope Benedict recently tried to have the European Union enforce Sunday Laws, but he was defeated this time around. Since he now has divorced the Vatican from Italian law, he can choose or reject what laws he wants or doesn't want, and anything can happen, even Sunday Laws.
At the same time, Capitalist America and many other countries are being rocked by the global economic crisis. Will this crisis be the catalyst that leads to the enforcement of Sunday laws? Prophecy is fulfilling fast and we are nearing the close of probation. But while many of us are current on world events, we are blind to the apostasy taking place right in our own church. Friends, are you aware that we have been warned that something deceptive, in regards to worship style, will strike the Seventh-day Adventist Church, just before probation closes.
I need to be a faithful watchman on the walls of Zion and sound an alarm of warning. My trumpet is blowing loudly, for there is great danger ahead. The enemy is at the door with his false, charismatic worship-style, and many of our own people are becoming mesmerized and deceived by the drums, music, dancing, and shouting that will swell into a false revival in our church, and feeling will take the place of faith. A false revival will most assuredly happen to modern Israel just like it did to ancient Israel at Baal-Peor, right before they were to enter the Promised Land. I believe the majority of Seventh-day Adventists and many other Protestant denominations will accept, or already have accepted, this charismatic worship style and believe it is the moving of the Holy Spirit!! Yes, I remember the Celebration Church in Colton, California and the Milwaukee Church in Oregon. But I am talking about NATIONAL APOSTASY ON A DENOMINATIONAL SCALE!
In the past few months I have listened to ministers in our pulpits preach about dancing, Christian Rock music, and shouting in praise and worship to God. I especially noticed as one pastor gave many versus to support shouting unto the Lord! Friends, I worked with Pentecostals for many years, and many of them are lovely people. I was on Pentecostal radio for twelve years. One morning, I remember, I had to carefully walk over the slain-in-the-spirit bodies all over the floor to get to the radio room. On several occasions I have spoken in charismatic churches in the U.S. and Africa. I have baptized many Pentecostals who converted to the Three Angels' Messages of Revelation 14:6-12.
Now the drums are beating in our youth rooms, accompanied by electric guitars, and dancing is being introduced into our churches by Jews, Indians, and people of other cultures. An SDA Pastor unashamedly promoted the pagan, ungodly and demonic shamanic dancing of the Cherokee Indians, as being acceptable in the worship of God in the SDA Church in Haggersville on 22-23 Aug. 2008. The dance performed called the "The Ladies Fancy Shawl" is a representation of the "Butterfly Legend"--an expression of the eternal cycle of renewal, or reincarnation (immortality)!!
I believe this is the enemy's attempt to desensitize us to charismatic worship and spiritualism. The dance, theatrics, and drama are being used to entertain us and keep us coming back for more. We are so accustomed to Hollywood, that we want Hollywood entertainment in the church. One pastor had a skit in the church and dressed up as the devil and other young actors were his demons. They even had fake smoke in the sanctuary for special effects. It happened to be the same pastor who dressed up in the twinkie costume and threw candy to the school children. At another church service, this same pastor, together with the senior pastor, had a magic act where the senior pastor pick-pocketed and swiped the other pastor's wallet. The abomination was part of the 11:00 o'clock worship hour, or should I say drama hour, for the school drama team performed next and Pastor Twinkie got to shout out his lines. The entertainment continued as Christian rock music filled the air at the potluck meal!
Let me ask you two serious questions: "Are all the puppet shows and drama leading the children to a true conversion and a sanctified life, or simply entertaining them so they will like church? and, "Is all the candy given to the children, winning them to the health message? Or sending them to the dentist with cavities, and a future life of obesity and a lack of self-control?" I am afraid we are seeing history being repeated, and a Baal-Peor-like apostasy before probation closes!
Remember, right before the Israelites were to cross the Jordan and enter the Promised Land, there was an apostasy known as Baal-Peor, a festive time of reveling and partying. The Israelites were intoxicated by the wine, the music, the dancing and the shouting. Will history be repeated? Please, read the following prophecy.
"The things you have described . . . the Lord has shown me would take place just before the close of probation. Every uncouth thing will be demonstrated. There will be shouting, with drums, music, and dancing. The senses of rational beings will become so confused that they cannot be trusted to make right decisions. And this is called the moving of the Holy Spirit.
"The Holy Spirit never reveals itself in such methods, in such a bedlam of noise. This is an invention of Satan to cover up his ingenious methods for making of none effect the pure, sincere, elevating, ennobling, sanctifying truth for this time....A bedlam of noise shocks the senses and perverts that which if conducted aright might be a blessing. The powers of Satanic agencies blend with the din and noise, to have a carnival, and this is termed the Holy Spirit's working.... Those participating in the supposed revival receive impressions which lead them adrift. They cannot tell what they formerly knew regarding Bible principles.
"No encouragement should be given to this kind of worship. The same kind of influence came in after the passing of the time in 1844. The same kind of representations were made. Men became excited, and were worked by a power thought to be the power of God.....
"Men and women, supposed to be guided by the Holy Spirit, held meetings in a state of nudity. They talked about holy flesh. They said they were beyond the power of temptation, and they sang, and shouted, and made all manner of noisy demonstrations....Satan was molding the work, and sensuality was the result. The cause of God was dishonored. Truth, sacred truth, was leveled in the dust by human agencies.
"I bore my testimony, declaring that these fanatical movements, this din and noise, were inspired by the spirit of Satan, who was working miracles to deceive if possible the very elect. We need to be on our guard, to maintain a close connection with Christ, that we be not deceived by Satan's devices. The Lord desires to have in His service order and discipline, not excitement and confusion."Maranatha, p. 234.
Some of you may be saying, "Danny, you are a fanatic! No such thing will ever happen in our beloved church." I am sure the Israelites never thought they would apostatize, in like manner, just before entering Canaan! I am sure the Israelites that were held captive in Babylon never thought they would bow down and worship the Image of Gold set up by Nebuchadnezzar when the music quit playing on the plains of Dura. Do not forget, all the Israelites bowed down to the golden image--all but the three vegetarians--Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. And I am sure that Moses never expected the Hebrews to be shouting and dancing around a golden calf right after the Lord spoke the Ten Commandments from heaven. In fact, Joshua was so surprised when he heard the shouts and outcries of excitement that he said, "There is a noise of war in the camp," but the sound was not of war but of revelry." As Moses and Joshua drew near the encampment, they beheld the people "shouting and dancing" around the golden calf. Part of the problem was that the Israelites were influenced by the "mixed multitude."
As we mingle with others who have not the light which God has bestowed upon us, and get involved in their ecumenism (interfaith services) and rock and rap Christian music (as if the lyrics sanctify the music) and dancing, we will be tempted to succumb to the same type of apostasy like that of Israel at Baal-Peor. Remember this "WOULD HAPPEN JUST BEFORE THE CLOSE OF PROBATION." "One thing it is certain is soon to be realized,--the great apostasy, which is developing and increasing and waxing stronger, and will continue to do so until the Lord shall descend from heaven with a shout. We are to hold fast the first principles of our denominated faith, and go forward from strength to increased faith." Special Testimonies, Series B, No. 7, p. 57.
The prophet Jeremiah said it this way: "Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk [therein]. Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken. Therefore hear...O congregation...I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it." Jer. 6:16-19.
Read more Bible history with me as we look at Baal-Peor: "At Balaam's suggestion, a grand festival in honor of their gods was appointed by the king of Moab, and it was secretly arranged that Balaam should induce the Israelites to attend. He was regarded by them as a prophet [or perhaps a senior pastor today] of God, and hence had little difficulty in accomplishing his purpose. Great numbers of the people joined him in witnessing the festivities. They ventured upon the forbidden ground, and were entangled in the snare of Satan. Beguiled with music and dancing, and...cast off their fealty to Jehovah. As they united in mirth and feasting, indulgence in wine beclouded their senses [how about too much sugar?] and broke down the barriers of self-control. Passion had full sway; and having defiled their consciences by lewdness, they were persuaded to bow down to idols. They offered sacrifice upon heathen altars and participated in the most degrading rites. It was not long before the poison had spread, like a deadly infection, through the camp of Israel. Those who would have conquered their enemies in battle were overcome by the wiles of heathen women. The people seemed to be infatuated. The rulers and the leading men were among the first to transgress, and so many of the people were guilty that the APOSTASY BECAME NATIONAL and 'Israel joined himself unto Baal-Peor.'" PP 454, 455. Remember, "National apostasy is followed by National ruin!"
History will be repeated, friends, because neo-Pentecostalism is already in our midst and tolerated by conference ministers! Is the General Conference warning you and protesting the apostasy? Aaron and many other leaders were dumb dogs that would not bark, and the kennel today seems to be nearly full of this kind of breed!
Did you notice the sequence of events and the progression of the apostasy at Baal-Peor?
1. They ventured on forbidden ground.
2. They were beguiled by the music and dancing.
3. Barriers of self-control were broken down
4. Their consciences were defiled by sensuality.
5. They bowed down to pagan idols!
Could this kind of apostasy happen again to spiritual Israel, right before probation closes? Could the same type of venturing, through ecumenism (the mixed multitude), lead our people to false worship and bowing down to a pagan idol like sun worship and a false sabbath? I expect to see false tongues in some of the Adventist churches, and have already heard the babblings of Babylon from some members and supported by some pastors!! Unholy hands will be raised and unknown tongues will be uttered!
I tremble for the baby-boomers in the church and the SDA-sponsored ecumenical youth rallies where Christian rock bands and rap singers entertain our youth! Yes, the unconsecrated music will lure the world, as did the festivities on the plains of Babylon! Filling the churches with unconsecrated and unconverted members will not increase the tithe and donations as one might think. In fact, the standards we have held so dear may lower quickly now, since the economic crisis is taking its toll on the treasury of the church.
The mirth and festivities of the Israelites at Baal-Peor, with the drinking, dancing, and music, led not only to physical fornication and adultery, but to spiritual adultery as well. Remember the prophecy above: "Men and women, supposed to be guided by the Holy Spirit, held meetings in a state of nudity. They talked about holy flesh. They said they were beyond the power of temptation, and they sang, and shouted, and made all manner of noisy demonstrations." At the end, the congregation wept and sought repentance, but thousands died in the plague at Baal-Peor, the nature of the disease we do not know.
Can we find evidence of Baal-Peor worship sentiments in our churches today? Leaders and ministers in our midst are fraternizing with the gods of the fallen churches. They are receiving their higher education from universities of the harlot daughters of Babylon. This is ecumenism and spiritual fornication. Alcohol is regularly used by many in Adventist circles today, and even served at some of our hospitals where abortions are performed and rosary beads are sold! In a number of Adventist church groups are Christian Rock bands. Particularly in California, Sabbath services are held where so-called "holy dancing" and other physical activities are carried on. With the prophecy of Maranatha p. 234, why would we want to tamper with drums, dancing, and noise? Stay away from it at all costs!
"How often, in our own day, is the love of pleasure disguised by a 'form of godliness'! A religion that permits men, while observing the rites of worship, to devote themselves to selfish or sensual gratification, is as pleasing to the multitudes now as in the days of Israel. And there are still pliant Aarons (dumb dogs that won't bark), who, while holding positions in the church, will yield to the desires of the unconsecrated, and thus encourage them to sin." PP 317.
Woe unto the pastors that scatter the sheep! I remember one extremely overweight pastor who attacked me after I lovingly encouraged him to start a health program. I offered to train him in exercise and write out a diet program for him. This unleashed his fury and he was determined to have me disfellowshipped from the church. But, the Lord intervened, and, lo and behold, he was arrested for soliciting a prostitute, and had to surrender his pastoral position.
Friends, beware of the charismatic worship services that are already infiltrating some of our churches, for they can eventually lead to speaking in false tongues, because they are built upon feeling and not faith. Let me tell you a story. One time I ventured on dangerous ground and almost spoke in false tongues. A young Pentecostal boy came into my health food store and we shared theological points of view. I told him about the fourth Commandment and the 7th-day Sabbath. An hour later, he returned with his mother, a powerful woman in the Pentecostal church. She said,"I hear you have been trying to convert my son. Do you have the baptism of the Holy Spirit? Do you speak in tongues?" I answered, "No I do not." I said, "Greater is he that prophesies than he that speaks in tongues." She then said, "I will pray about keeping the Sabbath if you promise to pray for the gift of tongues." I agreed, but didn't think she meant right then.
She held out her hands and took mine, and being a man of my word, and thinking I would outsmart her, I started to pray for the true gift of tongues. Suddenly my voice started to change and the pitch was getting higher and higher. I felt like I was losing control of myself. It was an ugly feeling which I will never forget. I immediately cried out to God and said, "Lord, by the blood shed on Calvary's cross, if this is not from you, may it cease." My voice quickly dropped back to normal and the experience stopped." Later when I related the story to my Bible teacher, he said, "You entered into forbidden territory and learned a valuable lesson." Yes, false tongues is supernatural, so be very careful. The true gift of tongues is known languages where the church can be edified and the gospel can be spread to all nations. All the gifts of the Spirit are for that purpose.
I know there are many faithful churches and not everyone will accept the false fire of the "unclean spirits." Many will refuse this type of worship and rise up against it. Please remember, the majority will forsake us and join the ranks of the opposition (see 5T 136), and the majority may occupy the buildings and "continue in their forms of religion" (See 5T 210). And, please, I urge you, read your Bibles and the Spirit of Prophecy every day, and pray to the Lord Jesus and ask for the Holy Spirit to give you the eyesalve that you may see. Be still, and listen for the still small voice of God speaking to your conscience. And avoid the music, dancing, and shouting that is coming into our churches as they partake, more and more, in Baal-Peor-style worship services. Avoid these things like the plague. God will soon strike them down and end their revelry, for judgment begins first in the "house of God" (see 1 Peter 4:17), because "religion [is] despised in the very homes of those who have had great light. They lament and afflict their souls because pride, avarice, selfishness, and deception of almost every kind are in the church. 5T 210.
I was very thankful for the messages I heard at the General Youth Conference in San Jose this year. The presentations were solid (see audioverse.com for free MP3 downloads), and some of the speakers urged the youth to protest the puppet show and Rock music in our churches. They advised that you go to the pastors and tell them you do not want these abominations in the church!
Since 1844, we have been living in the anti-typical Day of Atonement, and Jesus is ministering as our High Priest in the heavenly sanctuary. This is a most solemn time for soul-searching. A time to afflict our souls; a time to be constant in prayer; a time to be fasting; a time to put away all our sins; a time to be redeemed by the precious blood of Christ and clothed with the garments of His righteousness. Then, as Jesus comes in the clouds of glory and "the earth is filled with praise,....the living righteous and the risen saints unite their voices in a long, glad shout of victory,...Alleluia!" for heaven is their eternal home of glory! Oh, wonderful redemption! Long talked of, long hoped for, contemplated with eager anticipation, but never fully understood." The Great Controversy, pp. 639, 644, 645.
