Greetings!
Is it winter, yet? We've had a taste, but it doesn't officially start until December 22nd. To add some pizazz to the darkening days, we are kicking off a new series on our website featuring interviews with local experts on sustainability topics. These interviews will also be introduced in our monthly newsletter. This month, we address the timely topic of indoor air quality.
Have a topic you'd like to see us cover in a future newsletter? Send us an email. We'd love to hear from you.

Indoor Air Quality Q&A with two local experts
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the air in our homes is often many times more polluted than the air outside. And with the shorter days and colder temps of winter, we're spending a lot more time indoors with the windows closed tightly. Many things can contribute to poor indoor air quality including building materials, mold, radon and household cleaners. We are kicking off a new Expert Conversations series this month with two interviews that help us learn what we can do to prevent indoor air quality issues. Joe Walsh of Green Clean Maine talks about greener cleaning methods and why we should pay attention to what's in our cleaning products (not to mention why dusting is about more than aesthetics), and Richard Burbank of Evergreen Home Performance introduces us to the topic of home performance and how it encompasses a whole lot more than insulation. Full interviews can be found on our website. And while we're at it, be sure to check out our top ten list of plants that can help clean the air.

Winter Farmers' Markets
The outdoor farmers markets may have come to a close, but have no fear, the winter markets are here! We are fortunate in Maine to have had a great variety of winter markets come on the scene in the past few years. These weekly gatherings offer everything from winter crops and cold storage veggies to meats, cheeses, artisanal crafts and even music. Check these out for a start!
