What percentage of your household waste do you recycle? Maine's statewide average recycling rate is 39%, slightly higher than the national average of 33.8%. Celebrating 25 years of recycling in Maine
There are lots of reasons why recycling makes sense for both our checkbooks and the environment. Among them...
- Less trash going to landfills means less cost to towns and taxpayers.
- Recycling means a reduced need to use virgin materials in new products, thus protecting our natural resources.
- And composting, a form of recycling, reduces our trash load while also creating a valuable soil amendment that we can use in our gardens.
