Hike or Bike Your Favorite Trail and Raise Funds for MaineShare
The Smaller Footprint Hike and Bike is a fantastic (and fun!) opportunity to support the work of MaineShare. MaineShare provides an easy way to donate to over 30 statewide organizations working to achieve good health, environmental protection, safe communities, economic opportunity, human rights, animal welfare, and peace in the state of Maine. Participants will start and end their hike or bike anywhere and anytime between now and Labor Day, so there will be no expenses involved and all funds raised will go directly to MaineShare's efforts.
To get you inspired, we've collected a list of resources that will help you find the perfect trail near you:
List of State Parks, State Historic Sites, and Public Reserved Lands at
maine.gov
Multi-use Trail Finder at Bicycle Coalition of Maine
Interactive map of Maine trails at mainetrailfinder.com
List of off-road trails at Rails to Trails Conservancy's traillink.com
Happy Trails!

PACE Helps Finance Energy Efficiency Upgrades
Have you heard of the new PACE financing program? PACE (Property Assessed Clean Energy) helps homeowners finance energy efficiency upgrades - from insulation projects to alternative energy installations like solar hot water. Homeowners can borrow up to $15,000 at 4.99%. Low monthly payments mean that the savings in your month-to-month energy costs might even exceed your monthly loan payment - meaning more money in your pocket every month and reduced energy costs into the future. PACE is available in a growing number of communities in Maine. Learn more here.

We're Proud to Announce!
Heather Chandler, owner and publisher of The SunriseGuide, won an entreverge award this year, a recognition that pays tribute to the skills, passion, and commitment of greater Portland's young entrepreneurs. What an honor! Read more about the award in the Portland Press Herald article here. |
Survey Results Are In!
Plus a fun way to take advantage of your unused coupons Thanks for taking last month's survey! The results confirm our inkling about how folks use their SunriseGuides: 80% of you told us that you've visited a store that you learned about from the guide without using the corresponding coupon. Furthermore, 90% of those coupon-less visits resulted in a purchase! We're so thrilled to be increasing traffic to our favorite locally-owned businesses. Of course, we want you to save money and we want the store to know you were there. So we hope you'll use your coupon and if you forget it, please be sure to tell the store you found them in the SunriseGuide! If you're wondering how to use those coupons gathering dust in the neglected corners of your SunriseGuide, we're here to help with some ideas! Check out a recent addition to our website, 2011 Coupon Adventures. Let your SunriseGuide lead you on a thrifty discovery of Maine!
