Ok , So maybe it a touch late for the traditional dates of mid-summers night festivities. But as far as I'm concerned, summer just started, so we'll celebrate it this Friday.
Bodegas Goulart Torrontes
Torrontés is Argentina's signature white wine varietal, and is one of my "go-to" summer varietals. This wine has subtle citrus and floral aromas, plus a hint of licorice. Intensely flavored and firmly built with notes of grapefruit, lemon, white flowers and spices. Lovely subtle, aromatic torrontes with a well-judged touch of residual sugar.

Donnafugata Anthilia
This Sicilian blend of white grapes you've never heard of is awesome. When my family gets together, it is scary how many bottles of this wine we can open on a hot summer night. Now that I think of it, it's scary how much wine my family goes through in general, what was I saying ... donna, I fugata. Oh yea, the wine has intense fruity and floral sensations but it is round and elegant. Notes of yellow peaches and plums and scents of the Mediterranean vegetation.

Big Fire Pinot Noir
The Wall Street Journal (led by the legendary Hugh Johnson) chose this Oregon Pinot Noir as one of the 12 best wine buys of the year! Cherry and raspberry lead the aromatic nose, with sweet pie spice, licorice and vanilla in the background. Well structured without being very tannic.

The Formula Shiraz
This is a big, full flavored Shiraz produced from 40 year old vines, from Adelaide, Australia. Well balanced and textured, this wine shows savoury and chocolate notes with soft tannins and a structured palate. Delicious & deep with lush aromas of dark cherry and chocolate. Dark and dense, though medium-bodied, the fruit extract comes through boldly on the palate, and the gently tannic finish has hints of wood. I would have liked more tannins.
