| Business Sessions & Regional Meetings |
|
During the business sessions, CLARB leadership and staff provided updates on important programs and initiatives over the past year as well as outlined the scope of work for the coming year. Programs discussed were:
- The Landscape Architect Continuing Education System - The LA CES will launch in October 2008. ASLA has been approved as a provider and will give the first LA CES registered courses at the 2008 Annual Conference and Expo. The program will be marketed to outside providers following the ASLA Annual Meeting.
- The Future of CLARB Regional Testing - Member Boards indicated their general support for CLARB-administered graphic exam testing as a benefit to both the Member Boards and to the candidates and offered important input to consider going forward.
- Strategic Communications Plan for FY 2009 - The membership recognized initial improvement in CLARB's communications efforts and anticipates implementation of activities outlined in the plan. Of greatest interest are the improvements to the CLARB website expected in FY 2009.
- Status of AMS Implementation - The AMS is expected to launch in May 2009 with many improvements expected. Electronic transmittals, a disciplinary database, online renewals and meeting registration are expected at the launch with additional features coming in the months following the implementation.
- Headquarters Update - The staff has been realigned to better support the functions of the organization and the Member Boards. A roster of staff and their new functions was requested by the membership and is currently in development.
- Financial Reports - CLARB is in good financial health. The priority for the next year is to continue to fund the core programs, the strategic communications plan and organizational reserves.
The Regional Meetings featured a structured agenda which included time for the membership to discuss important organizational issues including: membership dues structure, regional testing, and proposed changes to the elections process. The agenda also included time for regional elections and individual board reports.

| CLARB Conducts Post-Annual Meeting Survey |
|
The 2008 Annual Meeting was a success! |
|
According to the post-annual meeting survey, the membership agrees that the CLARB 2008 Annual Meeting was a successful event. Several days after the conclusion of the Annual Meeting, a 10-question online survey was sent to attendees to determine overall satisfaction with the meeting and to give members an additional opportunity to provide feedback on their experience. Just under 50% of the meeting attendees responded to the survey and, overall, it seems that the attendee experience was positive.
We also received some pretty strong indications of how the Annual Meeting might be enhanced in the future. In particular, there is a desire to have more problem-solving conversations between boards, and programming to help Board Members and MBEs be more effective at executing their regulatory responsibilities . The full results are interesting reading, please take a look! |
