Group Gone Diving
Hello everyone!
I sure hope you are enjoying your summer, since it is finally here! We had such an awesome time, at Salt Creek/Fort Hayden, for the first Tour de Forts. The weather was unbelievable, along with the diving. If you have never been to Salt Creek, go. It is fantastic! Three other forts still left on our Tour de Forts, come join us.
If not up for camping, that is okay, join us for Group Gone Diving day trips. Last weekend, we went to Langley, WA and had a great crab feed, don't eat the crab butter. The topside crabbers were a little mad at us. We made it look so easy with our goodie bags full of crab. While they had empty crab rings.
Plenty of adventures still to come for this summer. Join us out in the water.
Thanks, Charlynn

Upcoming Classes
Dry Suit Speciality; Thursday, July 17th (August 7th): Diving in the Pacific Northwest, makes diving dry a real comfort to stay warm during your surface intervals and extending your bottom time. Learn to dive in a dry suit so you will be ready for the winter when it comes (or is it going to stay like fall the rest of summer?). Join us for one night in the pool and than
one open water dive. If you have been diving in a dry suit and would
like your Dry Suit specialty you may challenge the class at a reduced rate.
Deep Speciality; Saturday/Sunday, July 26-27th: Interested in diving deeper? Sign up for the deep speciality class. This class will teach you about narcosis at depth and how to maintain and monitor air supplies for your planned deep adventures. This is a great class to get proper training on diving at depths with a certified instructor. Four dives done over two days. One of the days will be on a charter. Additional cost for the charter.
Rescue Class; Wednesday August 6th: Challenging and rewarding best describes the PADI Rescue Diver course. This course will expand your knowledge and experience level. Rescue Divers learn to look beyond themselves and consider the safety and well being of other divers. Although this course is challenging, it is a rewarding way to build your confidence. Rescue Diver training will prepare you to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies. Many divers say this is the best course they've ever taken. You'll cover: * Self-rescue and diver stress * Emergency management and equipment * Panicked diver response * In-water rescue breathing protocols * Egress (exits) * Dive accident scenarios The Rescue class consists of 1 night classroom, 1 night of confined water and 1 day of open water training. The first night is classroom on August 6th. That night we will plan the other days depending on schedule.
Enriched Air; Tuesday, August 12th:

class is one night of classroom. No dives required.

New ship to sink in How Sound.
The
Artificial Reef Society of British Columbia (ARSBC), is in the process
of preparing another ship to sink in Howe Sound, the HMCS Annapolis. I
know that this very exciting news to us. No need to travel all the way
to Florida to do ships tours, we can do it here in the Pacific
Northwest. If you are as excited as myself, than you are going to want
to help volunteer to move this project along. You are in luck, ARSBC is
looking for volunteers to help in cleaning the Annapolis ship. The
ship is currently in Howe Sound and is expected to be scuttled sometime
next year. Head over to our website to download the Volunteer Flyer, work starts this weekend. |
