Each month, we'll have a little blurb to keep you in the know.  We're being hit with new expenses
every day & are trying to keep you in tune.

Did you know, that paypal saves us manual labor time inputting payments and helps you pay more conveniently (as well as helps make the captains job easier), but it costs us $7,000 per year
We are looking at other methods to help reduce this fee, or find a less expensive alternative that provides the same great service for you.

Background of the Soccer Ball!
Playstructure for Uihlein
A long time ago, a soccer ball was made out of a pig's bladder. Nowadays, they're high tech pieces of equipment that are designed to be precision made, lightweight, durable and multi-sided pieces of modern ingenuity.

A soccer ball has four major components: the cover, stitching, the lining and the bladder. These days, the outer part, or the cover of a soccer ball, is made of synthetic leather. In the 'old days', the cover of the soccer ball used to be made of full-grain leather, but that material absorbed too much water and the soccer ball grew too heavy. The synthetic leather that a soccer ball is made from today are lightweight and water resistant.

Each soccer ball is made up of 32 separate panels, though some designs use less and some use more. The 32-sided soccer ball is the most common and is used in professional soccer games around the world. Here's where a good head for math comes in. A soccer ball is made up of 20 hexagonal and 12 pentagonal panels. The panels on the soccer ball bulge out because of the amount of air pressure inside the ball. If fewer panels are used to construct a soccer ball, the ball tends to curve more when airborne, because it's less stable.

Fred Astaire Dance Studios Success Stories

This past June I visited the Jazz Festival in the Third Ward and people were dancing in the streets.  They were having so much fun and I wanted that too.  Dancing had always been something that I wanted to learn, but never seemed to make time for.  Now, as an "empty-nester," I have some time.

I scheduled my first lesson at Fred Astaire Dance Studios, and arrived a few minutes early to observe others, that's what I do best - WATCH!  I was thinking that I would never be able to move with the skill and grace that I was witnessing.

My instructor introduced me to all the basic steps that only involved my feet.  Hey, feet are needed for more than just walking or running!  My demands of my instructor were to "make me dance," which required him to repeat instruction multiple times, but he had the patience of a saint.  When I finally got it; I wanted more.  What I have learned cannot be fairly put into words, however I will try.

Dancing is so much more than just moving your feet.  When all is synchronized, the most amazing euphoria happens and then you're dancing!!  It's the most awesome feeling.  Did I mention how sexy dancing is?  My newly discovered happiness is dancing.

My job is full of spreadsheets, numbers, and meetings.  Daily activities are mundane and boring.  You know what I mean; those meetings where you need to pinch yourself to stay awake.  Well, now during those meetings, I count the hours until my next dance lesson.  All of the instructors and staff at Fred Astaire care a great deal for each student's success.  They are the most beautiful people you will ever meet this side of heaven.  It's almost as if you have joined a new family - with a large extended family.  Our family gets together every Friday evening for the Friday Night Parties, which are always a blast.

I highly recommend dancing to everyone; especially if it is taught by one of Fred Astaire Dance Studios' talented instructors.  Just think, if everyone danced their way to happiness, there would be no need for therapy or mood enhancing medication.  Did I mention how sexy dancing is?  Things my mother never taught me.

Advanced Soccer Positions
Playstructure for Uihlein
  • Attacking Midfielder - The midfielder that plays right behind the forwards; they support the offense by providing passes to forwards to set up goals.
  • Central Defender - A player who guards the area directly in front of their own goal, often considered the strongest defender.
  • Central Forward - A team's best-scoring forward who plays towards the center of the field.
  • Central Midfielder - The midfielder most responsible for organizing play in the midfield area, creating scoring opportunities for the attackers, and often a team's leader.
  • Defensive Midfielder - The player positioned just in front of their team's defense and often assigned to mark the opposition's best offensive player; tends to play more defense as a midfielder.
  • Finisher - A forward or striker who has the ability to "put away" or score when opportunities are given to them.
  • Halfback - Same as a midfielder.
  • Midfield Anchor - Same as a defensive midfielder.
  • Midfield General - Same as the central midfielder.
  • Midfield Maestro - Same as the central midfielder.
  • Stopper - The player that defends or guards the best scorer on the attacking team, often the opposition's striker.
  • Wingers - The outside forwards and midfielders (often the fastest players and best dribblers) who play on the sides of the field. Their primary task is to provide them with accurate crossing passes so they can shoot at the goal.
