EVERYONE IS A MINISTER!
A weekend of refreshment and renewal
with a focus on shaping our spiritual leadership for our future.
November 2-4
Sevenoaks Retreat Center
Madison, VA
On Saturday, November 3, we will be joined by a special spiritual leadership facilitator, Rev. Jill McCrory of Spiritual Outfitters. Rev. McCrory has been offering leadership development to associations, professional societies, and other non-profits for the past 15 years as co-founder of Leadership Outfitters. Spiritual Outfitters offers leadership development, Spiritual development, and workshops on justice issues to the faith community. Rev. McCrory is a native Washingtonian. She has a Masters of Divinity (MDiv) from the John Leland Seminary and was ordained by Luther Rice Baptist Church (Silver Spring, MD) in March 2007. She has ministered at Luther Rice and Washington Plaza Baptist Church (Reston, VA), and just finished up an Intentional Interim Pastorate at Open Door Metropolitan Community Church (Boyds, MD). She is the Chair of the Association of Welcoming & Affirming Baptists and Co-Chair of Maryland Faith for Equality.
The schedule will include time for personal reflection, small and large group discussions, worship, play time, and free time to spend as you desire.
Registration includes 2 nights accommodations
and 5 meals.

The next MCC NOVA Membership / Inquirers' Class will be held Sunday, September 23 at 12:30 pm in the sanctuary, and will include a light lunch. HELP THE HOMELESS MINISTRY
First Sunday each month (Food prep on Saturday)
Did you know that MCC NOVA helps feed the homeless in Fairfax City? On the first Sunday of each month, volunteers provide breakfast at area locations. Food prep happens on Saturday, the day before. Interested in getting involved? Contact Pat Monahan at pmmonahan@cox.net.
IMPORTANT NOTE!
SUPERVISED CHILDREN'S MINISTRY ON SABBATICAL
Our supervised Children/Youth Ministries will be taking a sabbatical starting Sun, July 1 until further notice. We'll make efforts to have paper and/or coloring pencils available during the sermon period to help entertain our children. You're welcome to bring something for your child too! If you have any questions, please contact Rev Onetta.
Note: Children/Youth Teachers/and assistants will meet on Sunday, August 26 @ 9:30 am in the Upstairs Library with Rev Onetta.
MUSIC NOTES
The choir is taking a break through August. Rehearsals will resume in September. If you have questions about joining the choir, please see Daniel Scearce.
BIBLE STUDY CONTINUES
Wednesday's, through September 5, 7:00-8:30 pm
MCC NOVA continue our Bible study in August - September. We will begin the gospel of John. All are welcome to participate in this study. Participants will be expected to read identified chapters to be discussed. If you are interested in participating, just come to class on Wednesday. You do not need to attend all sessions. Just come as you are able.

LAITY LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED!
The application deadline for the upcoming L.E.A.D. retreat October 20-22 in Kansas City, MO has been extended until August 31. In addition, the registration fee has been reduced to $150. For more information on this important lay-empowering retreat, click here.
The L.E.A.D. Certificate Program provides MCC laity with an opportunity for spiritual growth and the development of leadership skills. Persons who complete the L.E.A.D. Certificate will be placed on a Leader List available to Elders, Senior Staff, and MCC Clergy, for the purpose of creating a leadership pool from which to choose trained laity to serve in leadership positions in MCC at the local, denominational, and international levels.
To participate in the upcoming L.E.A.D. Retreat, individuals should complete the program application in the L.E.A.D. manual found HERE.
