MARK YOUR CALENDARS--SUNDAY JUNE 24
MCC NOVA WELCOMES SPECIAL MUSICAL GUESTS
THREE TWELVE!
THREE TWELVE is a 3-person vocal ensemble whose stated mission is to provide "healing music for wounded souls." Its members-Jason Whetstone, Deb McClain, and David M. Glasgow -bring to the ensemble a diversity of religious and spiritual experiences, both
positive and negative. Accordingly, the group's "covered" repertory includes not only
contemporary Christian music (as recorded by such artists as Avalon, Natalie Grant, and
Andrew Peterson), but also music drawn from more mainstream sources (e.g., Sheryl Crow,
Jonathan Larson). We will collect a love offering to support this ministry.
FAIRFAX BLITZ
Sunday, June 3, 2:00 pm
Our next ministry to the beautiful residents of Fairfax Nursing Center (FNC) is next Sunday,
June 3. We had a great time last month. One resident said, "I don't know what I would have done without you; I had no cup for my water (and we got him one)." Please help us share Christ's love to others. There are two floors of 'regular' patients at FCN, one Alzheimer's floor, and one rehab (short term) floor. We will meet at 2 p.m. after the Lunch Bunch. Visiting lasts about an hour.
If you have not received orientation at FCN, still come, and we will put you with someone who has already gone through orientation and visited. For any questions, please call Doug Hansen at 703-999-2882, or e/mail at s1gnal@cox.net.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY UPDATE
Habitat is waiting for the Fire Marshall report and will NOT have volunteer's onsite until

DRUMMING CIRCLE
Saturday, June 23, 7:00 - 9:00 pm
MCC NOVA presents a sacred/community drumming circle. All are welcome. No experience is required. Circles are scheduled quarterly around the time of the solstice. Drumming has been used by indigenous people all over the world for thousands of years as a powerful spiritual tool. In recent years, thousands of Community Drumming Circles have come into an existence as a way for people in our time to capture some of the concepts and practices of the ancient tradition and experience the benefits of it. These circles typically borrow some of the concepts and traditions of the ancient traditions, but are more flexible and require no special training or talents to participate. Our circle is based on this concept. Fliers are available on the literature table; please feel free to take these to post and hand out to others who might be interested. The more the merrier.

In Focus: Strategic Goals
Living intentionally as a faith community lies at the core of strategic goal setting.
This column tracks the progress we're making toward our current goals of expanding our community involvement and service, and increasing spiritual formation at MCC NOVA.
Here's a roundup of the major activities that took place (on land, ice and the dance floor) in May.
· Children's Bible Study-Weekly sessions during service for the wonderful children of MCC NOVA.
· Living the Questions-Popular DVD- and discussion-based exploration of progressive Christianity and spiritual formation. After a June hiatus, the study series will continue in July.
· Nature Hike- Outdoor activity, providing balm for the body, mind and spirit.
Community Involvement and Service
· diMENsions- Off-site bonding and Bible study for those identifying as men.
· Lunch Bunch - After-service fellowship, extending MCC NOVA's welcome and hospitality to all, including new visitors.
· Riga Dance Benefit - Dance benefiting our LGBT brothers and sisters in Riga, Latvia. About 50 people from local MCCs and MCC NOVA partied down for a great cause. Together, we raised $2000.
· Nursing Center Visitation - Ministry of companionship for the residents and patients of the Fairfax Nursing Center.

This concert will, as always, lift your spirits, allow audience participation, and leave you wanting more! A variety of songs has been chosen for this concert, drawing on past favorites (including "I Need You To Survive," which the MCC-NoVa choir has also shared in worship), new favorites (such as "Hold On" by Hezekiah Walker, with Kala on lead vocal), and a remake of an original song by our dynamic director, Rev. David North ("The Vision"). As you may know, Rev. David North, also pastors one of our MCC congregations in Maryland. If you've never heard the choir, we hope you'll plan to check us out -- you won't be sorry! If you're a MoHa groupie, we'll be happy to see you again!
