My husband Steve and I have a fabulous opportunity coming up in June.  We are going to the national conference for BALLE (Business Alliance for Local Living Economies), which is the support network for our favorite West Michigan organization, Local First.   

I have been involved in Local First since its inception and I'm pretty excited to get a bit more in depth knowledge on doing what we all try to do which is, "growing healthy, resilient local economies".

I'll report on my experiences on the Art of the Table blog while I'm there - or maybe will post it when I return, just keep watching!

   In the meantime, we're working hard to recycle & reuse our things, we recycle almost every paper & box, packing peanut, jar & bottle that arrives in this place!

Wine & Corks 

Three wine notes for the week:

1.   This Thursday our FREE in-store wine tasting features all Napa wines!  A white and two reds will be the menu of the day.  Stop by anytime between 5-8pm to try our selections - pedigreed ones too!

2.   Always wondering what to do with your wine bottle corks?  We have a great solution, we just began working with Re-Cork, a company that takes those corks you were just tossing and recycles them into things like shoes and bags and flooring.  Natural corks are entirely recyclable, so do your part when you come in for our next wine tasting, or to buy your next bottle!  Bring us your corks, we'll do the rest of the work!

3.   Our other recycling endeavor includes these great new wine glasses made from actual wine bottles!
