Bear Republic Brewery

For a respectable amount of time now Bear Republic has had the country in an uproar about the quality of their tremendous ales.
Here in Michigan, we've been waiting patiently for their arrival.
Wait no more!
Here is a little about the company before we delve into the beers...
  • Bear Republic was founded in Healdsburg, CA by a quaint family steeped 3rd and 4th generations in Sonoma County.  They started home brewing and found they wanted the flavors and quality of what they were producing on the shelves at stores and restaurants and they just couldn't find it.  So, they started out on their own journey in the micro brew world.
  • One of their secrets: an old world hop kiln.  The hop flavors are so dense and uniquely fresh in Bear Republic beer.  It truly is like no other brewery out there.
  • Something else we find surprising is it truly is a family business.  The son brews the beer, the father pulls the taps behind the bar, Mom greets you at the door and the daughter-in-law keeps the books.  That's it.  Simple and effective.
  • We have fallen in love with their beer, and we hope you will too.  We've brought in 3 selections we think you are really going to love.  Give 'em a try and give us your feedback...but we're pretty sure what you're going to say :)

 In the Cooler

Racer 5 IPA This beer has been winning awards for well over 10 years in major beer competitions.  It is a full-bodied, highly hopped American IPA.  The crystal malts are subtle and the balance between Chinook, Cascade, Columbus and Centennial hops is achieved.
An easily drinkable beer that will have hop heads and IPA lovers writing sonnets in Racer 5's honor.

Hop Rod Rye
This is a high gravity IPA with 18% rye grain in the brew.  The aroma is floral with tones of spice and a balanced malt tone.  The flavor hits fast and powerful with spicy rye, earth and hops.  This is honestly the perfect beer for those who love high gravity ales, but don't like the sweetness that often finds its way into the high alcohol.
(also, if you love American whiskey...this is a beer for you!)

Red Rocket Ale
Here is a beer that breaks all styles.  It wants to be a Scottish Red, but it's a little too hoppy.  It wouldn't mind being an IPA but again, it's a little malty and the color is just too intense to be a pale.  It certainly isn't a stout, but the dry qualities are like that of a rich imperial.  It's not high gravity, nor is it a session ale.  But guess what?  It is super awesome.  You won't know what to do with yourself, but you'll be happy you took a chance and put one of these in your mixed 6 pack.

  • Guess what!  Our friends over at The Winchester have the
Hop Rod Rye on tap right now.
Try it on draft and bottle!
    Woohoo for Wealthy Street!
