Every once in a while we come across a winery that produces really honest wines at a fair price and they somehow manage to keep the production low (we mean really low, like around 600 cases for the red and 300 each for the white and rose annually!)
Folesano is a family winery. The family is dedicated to ethical cultivation of their land and sustainable farming practices. The Folesano Estate is in Emilia and the family's love and passion for the land and its history tells a story in the wine. The wine is terroir driven and the 3 selections we carry (the rose is seasonal) see no oak, what you taste is the pure wine without distraction.
Although they are great food wines, the Folesano line can be consumed for casual enjoyment, or paired up with your fancy 5 course traditional Italian dinner. Either way, the wines are very enjoyable...plus, we bought a whole bunch of them and now we have them marked lower than their already very fair prices.

100% Sangiovese, the wine is rich but lively and young. Cherry is present on the palate, with a follow up of raspberry that is there in the nose as well. While fresh fruits are certainly present, the wine is overall very dry and earthy. A unique wine without question, andmakes for a nice pair with bacon wrapped duck breast with a raspberry demi glaze over polenta.
