Beer Talk by Art of the Table
December 22, 2010

We've always been a build your own six pack kind of place and recommend you to buy just one of something to get a good feel for what you like.

The idea of giving a gift the same way is a great plan too!
Here are some of our thoughts, but you're welcome to do it any way you would like, we just think you should do it...
Large Format Samplers
Big bottles look great in a gift basket.  Throw in a block or two of cheese, crackers, maybe a bottle opener and a quality proper glassware for your beverage and you have a very presentable and very delicious gift.

Ommegang Sampler
Ommegang is a belgian style brew house in Cooperstown, NY.
They make fantastic beers like Three Philosophers and Hennepin, amongst other great beers to gift together.

True Belgian Sampler
We have a carefully handpicked selection of great authentic Belgian beers in the cooler, and a selection of them together as a gift would make any Belgian beer lover weep with joy.

Jolly Pumpkin Sampler
Made here in Michigan and regarded as one of the best micro-breweries in the world, we carry a diverse selection of these fine ales to choose from.  We actually recommend buying them all,
they are that good.

High Gravity Sampler
Big beers, with lots of flavor and alcohol.  Some people go nuts over beers like this, and it's understandable why.  Put together a selection of High Gravity beers with some cheese, Nostrano salami and a selection of crackers.  Yum.

12oz Ideas

We will happily do 12oz bottles in a gift basket, but we can also make it a little more simple.  A mixed 6 pack, or even a mixed case for the beer lover in the family is a great idea...who knows, maybe they'll share.

Michigan Sampler
Why not put together a selection of all Michigan made beer.  We've got some of the best stuff around, and we're darn proud of it.

IPA/Stout/Wheat... Sampler
You get the idea.  For me, I know my dad loves IPAs.  There isn't much else he'll drink now-a-days when it comes to beer, so I know to always get him a mixed 6 of a combination of his favorites and hopefully a few he hasn't tried yet.  But your dad might like stouts, your cousin might like Pilsners, you get the idea.

Battle of the Big 3 Sampler
No I'm not talking about Bud, Miller and Coors, I'm talking about California, Colorado and Michigan.  We three states are the top 3 producers of microbrewed beer in the world, and it's fun to compare the differences and similarities between each state.  Get a few things similar from each different state and compare a Michigan IPA to a California and Colorado of similar nature.  It's a whole lot of fun. Try to see if you can tell which is which by tasting blind.
This can be really fun with the right crowd of people.

Do you have us on your Christmas (or birthday) list?
We will always take you into our "Beer of the Month" club.

In it, the giver gives the receiver
(don't you hope you can be one of these?)

the chance to stop into Art of the Table once a month and either pick out their own beer selections - up to a certain dollar amount - or we will select for the receiver a surprise pack of beer at the dollar level set by the giver.

Sound fun?  There's still time to tell Santa...
