Next week we have two fantastic opportunities to taste wines with us at one of our favorite local restaurants, Corez.
We're hoping if you have some time in your schedule, you could join us! If you can join us, please give us a call or drop us an email to let us know you can join the party as we like to know who to count on for seating.
We get so excited when out of town (or country) guests want to hang out with us at tastings. Last night we had two winemakers from New Zealand in for a tasting and people were so excited that they ordered tons of wine!
It's fun to listen to great accents, super stories and experiences that people are having in our big world out there.

November 2 Old School/New School Wines
|
|
We're always looking to educate in a fun way during our tastings. We've been given a great opportunity to have a tasting with a guy whose company professes to "have a pretty unique relationship with some up-and-coming artisan producers making sexy-as-hell wine" in California's Central Coast. Brandon is great buds with Philip Muzzy and knows just what is coming your way in "cool" wine. I (Amy) had fun reading the website and getting jazzed about tiny fun producers I'd never even heard of. I encourage you to read a bit about the business known as the
Proof Wine Collective
This is a tasting unlike any we've ever hosted. It's a journey through five of California's Central Coast up & coming but tiny "cult" winery's wines, matched up with similarly styled (but Old World made) French wines that inspired the winemakers.
All in all, we will taste through 10 wines total! We will also have some food alongside - I hear maybe some lamb alongside the Syrah? For just half of those wines, that's a steal of a deal.
It's the perfect way to compare and judge for yourself which style of
wines make you more excited!
Believe me, you will not want to miss this tasting...special surprises are expected and Philip "Fuzz" Muzzy of Proof Wine Collective is as charismatic as a crocodile wrestler in a fight with a grizzly bear.
We'll laugh, drink, eat and have a night to remember once again with our friends at Corez. Call the store now to make a reservation, we are expecting this one to fill up quick and we only have enough wine for 20 people!
Cheers!
Tuesday, Nov. 2nd , 6:30pm ~ vote early so you can come to the tasting! ~

November 3 - Spy Valley
| |
The name SPY VALLEY® is derived from the presence of a satellite communications monitoring station, AKA a spy base nearby the winery in Marlborough's Wairau Valley. This three course wine dinner features great wines, Corez's delightful food AND the winemaker from Spy Valley winery. We're looking forward to trying the most recent vintages of their wines as we hear they're marvelous! The dinner will pair the Sauvignon Blancs and Pinot Noirs that they make with amazing selections from Corez's kitchen. And seriously have you been to Corez lately? Chef Chad's menu has comfort food written all over it! Join us to sip and eat and be merry - I mean who wouldn't be merry with a NZ winemaker at their side?
Wednesday, November 3rd, 6:30pm $40 + tax and gratuity

December's Tastings!
| |
We're looking ahead to the holiday season, our final three tastings of the year! All three tastings will be held at the University Club high atop the 5/3 Bank building!
Each of them will feature six wine selections and appetizer fare.
December 1 - Big Fat Reds It's not every day that you get wines this big and fat and red. This is our annual event that gets people all riled up and red ~ I mean ready for the holidays. Six great selections tonight from around the world; up and down the price scale. We find amazing big wines that are both inexpensive values and monstrosities that you can impress your seemingly never impressed friends with. We'll drink and eat well tonight as the University Club likes to put on a great event with us. We're looking forward to a cozy group to take the chill out of the air! $45 includes tax & gratuity ~ and parking!
December 8 - Sparkling Things We Like to Sip It has become a tradition that can't be tampered with. Second Wednesday of December we drink bubbly that is not from Champagne. (Well, maybe one if you're lucky!) We enjoy the bubbles from around the world because it gives you a chance to try six different selections that are not expensive and show off wonderfully the reason why bubbles are taking the world by storm. I am a fan of bubbles with popcorn, with Asian food, with the night time and not often but even sometimes in the daytime. I mean, what's a beach day without bubbles!? Tonight we will delight you with small plates of food with your bubbly selections. Bradford Hammerschmidt delights us with his knowledge about the items in the serene peacefulness of the University Club. $40 includes tax & gratuity ~ and parking!
December 15 - Small Names, Big Flavor Champagnes of Champagne This night, too, has become a tradition that can't be tampered with. The third Wednesday of December we drink Champagne that is from Champagne. It's difficult to explain just how marvelous these Champagnes are compared to other champagnes twice (or more!) their price. Amazing wines made by stellar farmers make for happy celebrations in this next month or two (Don't forget Valentines day! and sometimes just a Friday night calls for Champagne!) Tonight we will delight you with small plate pairings with your bubbly selections. Bradford Hammerschmidt delights us with his knowledge about the items in the serene but party feel of the University Club. $55 includes tax & gratuity ~ and parking!
