| Out with the Old, In with the New Goodies! | | Although it pains us to say this, the tomato season is being bid adieu...and this means that we won't regularly be stocking buffalo mozzarella or burrata for the season. By all means, if you are interested in getting some for an event, we are more than happy to special order it for you. We'll just need about 3 days lead time. We just won't have it all the time. Let us know!
On the flip side, we're pretty excited about all the new goods that are arriving these days:
- Nita Crisps are our newest cracker and they're quite possibly the best crackers I've ever eaten! They're flat lavosch "looking" crackers that are handmade with high quality natural ingredients, are low in sodium, have no preservatives, sugars or transfats! Available in spelt and light wheat, they're marvelously strong bodied to stand up to that goopy cheese on its way to your mouth.
 - Bourbon Barrel Foods - Check out the Bourbon Barrel Kentukyaki for your fall easy meal. This is Kentucky Style Teriyaki as it's soy sauce blended and sweetened with sorghum, flavored with bourbon, and seasoned with fresh ginger and garlic. Use it as a marinade for any meat or add it to stir fry. It's vegetarian and all natural.
We'll tell you about more awesome new stuff next week - in the meantime, read on about all our pending events!

Events Galore! | | This theme of "events galore!" is not any exaggeration. We tried to schedule our annual Anniversary tasting for this weekend and came to the conclusion this week that it was one too many events for everyone.
Hasn't it been busy in our fine little city of Grand Rapids these days? Between Art Prize and the beautiful weather and the opportunities for music and dance and concerts alike, I personally feel like I'm being pulled in all directions to support and party. And while it's all fun, I have work to do! (The holidays are pending at Art of the Table!) So we'll be rescheduling our Anniversary party for sometime in February when you're cold and bored! Details forthcoming soon.
In the meantime, even if you're overly busy, you do need some time to relax. So how can we help you fill your time? (Keep in mind we do need you to sign up ahead of time for events so that we know to plan on you. Call 301.1885 or email.)
Tomorrow...
Thursday, October 21 - San Chez and Art of the Table will be hosting a representative from Guelbenzu Estate Wines. Guelbenzu wines are top notch and delightfully giant red wines that just might knock your socks off. I know I haven't worn socks since last winter because of it! Join us for food and wine tasting fun, Thursday, October 21st @ 6:30pm. The tasting is $25 and comes complete with at least three tapas selections. Please call San Chez to signup.

Next Monday, October 25 - Paddy Borthwick of Borthwick Vineyards & Andrew Greenhough present!
Borthwick Vineyards are nestled on an old stony river terrace encircled by spectacular views and unruffled tranquility in Wairarapa, New Zealand. Leaving nature untouched in the vineyard and winery allows Paddy and family to create a range of premium, finely crafted Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling wine styles. All the wines are produced and bottled exclusively using grapes grown from the unique soils in their vineyards.
Greenhough wines are also truly amazing. I've always wanted to carry these wines and meet Andrew. He's also a fascinating winemaker ~ as in 1990, Andrew Greenhough and Jenny Wheeler moved to Nelson to embark on a new challenge and way of life. An artisan winery, he creates much valued Riesling, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc with vines now over 30 years old.
For only $15 you can pretend you've arrived at the vineyards.
Join us at Corez Wine Bar (919 Cherry Street SE) and taste 7 wines, munch on some Corez treats and talk with Paddy & Andrew!

We have a great opportunity to host one of our old favorite wineries that brings in great Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. Join us for a 3 course meal for $40 + tax/tip at Corez @ 6:30pm.
Tuesday, November 30 - We've also rescheduled our Knife Skills Class. This 'class' is going to help you learn how NOT to chop your fingers off. It's going to also teach you how TO chop your veggies and other such food items. Led by our friendly Wusthof sales rep, Ed, you are guaranteed to learn a lot and be entertained along the way! You do not need to own Wusthof knives to attend. You can learn how to chop, dice, slice and oh so much more!
If you would like to come, it's $18 a person. This small fee includes knowledge, a refreshment and we'll be chopping real food, so basically it covers our costs. Oh and there will be a door prize drawing for a Wusthof knife! Always questioning your chopping skills? Be there. MUST sign up ahead of time - call the store to sign up with your payment to reserve your spot.
Looking way ahead... December 1 - Big Fat Reds December 8 - Sparkling Things We Like to Sip December 15 - Champagnes of Champagne |
