Wine Talk by Art of the Table
October 13, 2010

It's been 7 years !?

It's been 7 years since we opened our "fun little store", Art of the Table.

We've sold thousands and thousands of bottles of wine to you and others like you who care what it is you're drinking.

We aren't into pretentious talk and wine snobbery,
frankly we're just excited that we've found super great wine
that's not in every store & doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

We do have some wines that cost half and arm and leg but for the most part, we're here to make your mouth happy,
your guests happy and
do our best to make your pocketbook happy
while not buying & selling swill!

We're in love with our wine section and we hope you are too.
We know we can always do better and we're striving to do just that.
That said, if there's anything you ever need that we don't stock or areas of our wine section that you think are weak, please bring it to our attention.  We're here for you!

Trust us, this furniture store is no ordinary furniture store during the day.  Turn it into Art of the Table's party place and it's stunning!  It's the most cozy, fun atmosphere for a party and you should not miss it!

Check out some of the pics from prior years to get a taste,

put on your fun party clothes and join us NEXT Saturday.

We'll look forward to joining us to party!
Eric Solomon Spanish Selections

Right now in the store, we are featuring a table of Spanish wines from Eric Solomon Selections.  Eric Solomon is one of the few importers that I will buy wine from sight unseen.  He is incredibly picky about the wines he imports, and we have always found the wines to be trustworthy.  Look for his name on the back of a bottle to know you are getting a great wine.

Some examples:

Mas Doix Salanques ~ Priorat, Spain

A stunningly balanced wine, even at 15% alcohol!  Mostly Garnacha, then Carinena, some Syrah, and a little Merlot and Cab Sauv.  The deep, rich earthy flavors and loads of black fruit give way to some tobacco, rocky clay and leather.  Personally, I love this wine and have for a very long time.  With food or not, this is great juice.  If you attend our Anniversary party, you will have a chance to

try the 2004 and 2007 vintages side by side!

$30.00

Finca Villacreces "Pruno" ~ Ribera del Duero

This is what I would call "new world" styled Spanish wine.  It's chocolatey, slightly jammy and a whole lot of flavor.  What is most interesting is the underlying "old world" characteristics...leather, cedar spice and earth tones.  I'm a fan all the way.  At this price, I say it's really hard to find this complex of a wine.

$19.25

Capçanes '04  "Mas Donis" ~ Monsant

A brilliant value, this is a blend of Grenache and Syrah from just south of Priorat in Spain.  One of the "hot" up and coming regions, this blend sports notes of roasted plums, black cherry, toasty cola and coffee.  Very full-bodied and dense, try this with roasted vegetable meatloaf with balsamic glaze and cornbread.
$12.50

Bodegas Sierra Salinas "Mira" ~ D.O. Alicante

A very persistent blend of Monastrell, Cab Sauv and Garnacha.  The aromas of dark fruit and earth don't back down, not even on the palate and the finish lasts for minutes.  Very powerful and full bodied, this is a wine for doing damage.  Pairs with big bold flavors, consider doing pork belly with blackened chili pepper crème.

$31.00
