Again please join us in welcoming Brandon to our team here at Art of the Table. He was selected from several nominees to write this week's Wine Talk!
Hey friends,
It's time for grilling, eating in the backyard with the
family, seeing grandma and grandpa and you guessed it...wine. Glorious, wonderful wine. The 4th of July weekend is just
around the corner, and you'll need the good stuff, right?
Here are a few fun wines with festive color
schemes to keep in mind for the holiday.

Red, White & Blue
|
|
The Red: Pozzan Back Barn
Zinfandel Napa Valley, California Delightfully spicy and lush, the wine is peppery, oaky and
smokey. It has medium sage notes,
complimented by juicy cherry, wild berry and plum. Aged for 13 months in French and American
oak, it drinks well now, but will certainly hold for the next few years. Let it open up for a good hour before you
serve it with your gourmet burger extravaganza...Buffalo burgers with olive
tapenade and Camembert cheese anyone??? The White: Magnificent Wine
Co. House White Columbia Valley, Washington
State A grand white wine for days lazing around, munching on
summer snacks and chillin' in the sun with your super cool sunglasses on. Primarily Chardonnay, with interesting
additions of Muscat Canelli, Pinot Grigio, Gewurztraminer and Riesling, the wine
is super floral, fruity and refreshingly crisp and dry. An absolute must for parties, and for
personal enjoyment as well. Also the
perfect wine for all the fish you catch and bring home to grill this weekend. The Blue: San Silvestro, Dulcis Moscato d'Asti Piedmont, Italy Sweet, sweet and sweet. Tasty on all levels...and even if dad says he
doesn't like it, he secretly does. Very
pretty and slightly floral on the nose, mountainous flavors of creamy orange
and lemon cream pie exude from this slightly sparkling beauty. Refreshing on a hot day, and perfect after
dinner with cake, pie, cookies, brownies, cupcakes, lemon bars...you get the
idea.

white + blue = seeing stars
|
|
Shooting Star Aligote (stars are 4th of July
worthy, right?)Aligote (al-i-goat-eh) is that crazy little white grape from
the Burgundy region of France
that is often unheard of but most always enjoyed.
Racy and stylish, this electrifies with notes
of golden delicious apple, honey, star fruit and spice with hints of wet soil,
flint and pineapple. Full-bodied and
racy, a great wine for finger foods around the kitchen while dinner is being
prepared; especially with smoked
salmon pate, capers and Serafina garlic and herbs cheese spread...yum.

red + white = rose!
|
|
Pellehaut Rose-Cotes de Gascogne, France
 (it's the most red
"pink" we have, and it's delicious)
Rippingly ripe with strawberry, watermelon, creamy cherry
syrup and tasty mint-like dryness on the finish, the Pellehaut Rose is
fantastic by itself or with a slew of grilled fare...Hickory
grilled salmon steaks with Sarah's Sea Salt Tuscan Salt, grilled polish
sausages with caramelized onions on a sweet bun, or with a big, crisp apple in
the middle of the day by the pool.
Ringing up at $9 - that is if you only buy one.
