Collecting Boxtops for Education Now
|
Just a reminder that NCA collects Boxtops for Education year round. If every student at NCA could collect 50 boxtops over the course of a year - that would amount to approx. $1,000 for NCA. If you can If you can ask neighbors and grand-parents to save them also that would be great. Occasionally, there are contests to win BOXTOPS - NCA received $1,000 last year, just because a parent entered NCA into a contest.
Please send your boxtops into NCA. Elementary aged children can give them to their teacher. Junior High or High School students can give them to their principal.
Thank you.

What Do You See God Doing At NCA?
It is a question that He answers most every day.
There are many stories about what God is doing/has done in the lives of NCA students, faculty and staff as they develop a passion for God and compassion for people. In fact, YOU may have a story about how God has used NCA in your life. We would love to hear your stories and share them through this blog.
Perhaps a teacher encouraged you in your spiritual journey... or another NCA staff member demonstrated how to live passionately for God in an apathetic world... maybe you've seen a marked change in your child's attitude/behavior... perhaps your experience on a mission trip transformed your heart toward others... or you've observed a pupil showing compassion to another student... whatever your story, we'd like to hear it from you.
Visit the What's God Doing? page on the NCA website. Share your story of what God is doing at NCA and be an encouragement to others.

High School Updates
A lot is happening in the High School this semester! Dean of Women and Dean of MenMrs. Myers, our Guidance Counselor, and Mr. Winans, our Athletic Director have added new responsibilities as Dean of Women and Dean of Men respectively. They will be working with the student Community Groups and also handling routine discipline. My door continues to be open to both parents and students, of course. I am truly blessed and excited to see the Lord's hand in the High School transition. The addition of our Deans is one important piece; empowering the student voice through Student Government and Community is another. And logistically, we are making the most of this time to develop the most unified and consistent administrative approach for our amazing high school. 'Stay Tuned' as we continue to move forward to enhance the discipleship which remains at our core!
Princeton Review SAT Prep New this year, too, is the Princeton Review SAT Prep course for the junior class. A preliminary assessment based on test score comparisons from the beginning of the class to the present show dramatic improvements. We are greatly encouraged by the increased scores!
The Truth Project Grades 9 - 12 began the Truth Project in January. We are using this excellent DVD series in our Tuesday Chapel times, and the students are processing 'real world' application in their Thursday Community Group sessions. Student Government Each class in the High School has elected two student representatives, one male and one female, to be its 'voice' to the administration, providing ideas and input regarding Student Life at NCA. This newly formed group will meet regularly with their faculty advisor, Mr Burger.
They have already enjoyed a fun, community-building event: Snow Field Day which was a great success featuring High School students and staff at Greeley Park competing in architecture (snow fort building), military strategy (snowball fights), gracious living (can you say pizza?) and more!

New Tutor Available for Junior High Students
Andrea Dewhurst (formerly " Miss Barnett") has recently been added to the junior high list of tutors. After teaching NCA's fifth-graders for three years, she stepped away from the classroom to cultivate her new marriage; but now following a much-extended 'summer vacation,' she is eager to meet new students and reconnect with old ones in a more individualized capacity than before. Whether students need to review the timeline of the Civil War, write (then edit!) a paper in English, or memorize the Periodic Table, Mrs. Dewhurst wants to help them succeed. She is available during school hours (study hall, anyone?) and after; and she is flexible about tutoring in a location convenient for you. If you are interested in contacting her, you may do so by phone or e-mail: (603) 689-6790. She would love to hear from you!

Babies are wonderful!
And we are anticipating some in our NCA family. Mrs. Nadine Herard, our third grade teacher, and Mrs. Rachel Nesbitt, our Registrar, are expecting. I know you will want to join us in congratulating them and in praying for them and for their coming little ones!

Congratulations Joy and Jonathan!
Nashua Christian Academy is pleased to announce that two members of our senior class have received very special recognition in recent days!
Joy Davis has been honored as a National Merit Finalist for 2011. That means that this young woman has placed among the top scholars in the nation. All Finalists are considered for the many scholarships connected to this award, and in March, the National Merit Scholarship Committee will begin sending out specific scholarship offers. Jonathan Taylor has received an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point. This great honor is the result of a career of academic excellence and a long process of application and interviews. Jonathan was also recognized as a Commended Scholar by National Merit last Fall. Congratulations Joy and Jon! We are proud of you!
