Headmaster's Welcome

Urban 2009Fall...this is always a time of celebration at NCA as we welcome everyone back. We're rejoicing! A special welcome to new staff members, students, and their families. After that first week of school heat wave passed, the cooler weather makes it seem more like "back to school" time. Everyone is settling in, and all indications are that NCA is off to a wonderful beginning to our school year.

I would like to take this opportunity to commend all of our NCA parents for your commitment to give your children the precious gift of Christian education. This is no small thing.

Our website invites people to Come experience the NCA difference. There are two parts to that difference, though they are deeply intertwined.

The first part is the difference that a Christian education makes.
In discoverchristianschools.com, there is an article called "10 Reasons to Send Your Child to a Christian School." This article explains that "smaller classes in Christian schools mean that students learn to be better participants than spectators. They learn how to think quickly, and gain valuable experience sharing their thoughts and opinions in a public forum. Because Christian school students perform at a higher level in the classroom than their public school counterparts, it only makes sense that their options upon graduation are more abundant. Therefore, they are more likely to be prepared to handle the rigors of higher education...they are better equipped to handle discrepant ideas upon graduation."

In other words, Christian schools produce better thinkers, who excel as university students and employees. Ultimately, Christian school educated students are better equipped to achieve success in the eyes of the world, and even more importantly, in the eyes of the Lord.

There is a difference.

The second and related part of the NCA difference is made up of our:

  • Discipleship model - we come alongside you and your church to nurture the personal Christian walk of every student
  • Focus on service and missions - helping the poor and orphaned next door and around the world
  • Community - where every student comes to know that he or she is truly valued, respected, and loved in Christ.
So congratulations! You have made a wise choice. NCA is not just about smaller classes (although we do have those), or a safer environment (yes, we take great care to protect your children).  It's about Christ - what He has done for us, and what He continues to do for us right here at 55 Franklin Street, Nashua.

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 says, "...these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up."

Sounds like 24/7 to me.

Thank you all for being part of the NCA difference... thank you for being part of the NCA family.

So How's iNow Working For You?

As many of you know NCA is working with a new on-line Information System called iNow. Each family member (parent and student) should have received a username and password to securely access information.

Contact Rachel Nesbitt (603-889-8892) if you are having difficulty with accessing iNow or with your username or password.

The goal is that parents will have greater access to what classes students are taking and how they are doing in them. The system  includes basic information about each student, an on-line gradebook for each class and attendance information. You can see this information at any time:
  • Student Schedule
  • Grades, updated regularly for each class
  • Progress reports
  • Demographic information - (call Janine if your information is incorrect)
  • Specific homework and projects assigned for each class
  • Attendance information
  • High School Calendar
Thank You!

A huge THANK YOU to Andre Imperiali for all his work transforming the NCA Playground over the summer.  Watch for the full story in the October e-Heartbeat.

What do you see God doing at NCA?

It is a question that He answers most every day.

There are many stories about what God is doing/has done in the lives of NCA students, faculty and staff as they develop a passion for God and compassion for people. In fact, YOU may have a story about how God has used NCA in your life. We would love to hear your stories and share them through this blog.

Perhaps a teacher encouraged you in your spiritual journey... or another NCA staff member demonstrated how to live passionately for God in an apathetic world... maybe you've seen a marked change in your child's attitude/behavior... perhaps your experience on a mission trip transformed your heart toward others... or you've observed a pupil showing compassion to another student... whatever your story, we'd like to hear it from you.

Visit the What's God Doing? page on the NCA website. Share your story of what God is doing at NCA and be an encouragement to others.
