Ukraine Mission Trip Memorable
On Thursday, April 22, 14 NCA high school students traveled to Uzgorod, Ukraine via Budapest, Hungary.  After 30 hours, 2 flights, 2 train trips and multiple bus rides, they arrived in Uzgorod on Friday, April 23.  The next 5 days were spent in Ukraine participating in church services, sharing the Gospel through dance & mime on 9 separate occasions, and spending quality time with orphans.  It may not seem like much to "just hang out" with children, but for those who rarely receive individual attention, having someone look into their eyes and engage in an activity with them is like drinking cold water in a desert.   "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,..." (Matt. 25:35) Inviting a stranger into our life is something Jesus calls us to do for "the least of these..." (v. 40)

In the words of one of the high school participants, "The best part of the day was when we arrived at the Mukachevo Gypsy village later that night. Greeted at the front gate by ecstatic children and anticipating adults, the team was welcomed into the church like family.
Although very small and hot, the church was so filled with God's love and presence, it was a blessing to be there. ...the constant clapping and singing of the church kept our performances alive. The whole experience was something I will never forget."

Upon his return from Ukraine with the NCA team, Pastor Paul Berube commented on how impressed he was by the way in which the students on both the Bolivia and Ukraine mission trips exemplified the character of Christ to the people around them. Certainly they lived out the "Passion for God; Compassion for People" mission of Nashua Christian Academy. "By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." (John 13:35)

What is God doing at NCA?

It is a question that He answers most every day.

There are many stories about what God is doing/has done in the lives of NCA students, faculty and staff as they develop a passion for God and compassion for people. In fact, YOU may have a story about how God has used NCA in your life. We would love to hear your stories and share them through this blog. Like this one.

God's presence was there with us.

This was my second year on the school worship team, but my first year as the worship leader. I absolutely loved it, and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. We all learned many things as the year went on. We learned from our mistakes. (mostly mine) We learned how to keep worshiping God even though the sound system didn't work right. But most importantly, we learned that God's presence was there with us. There were a couple of times when no one was motivated to participate in worship, but there were also many times were I wish we could've kept going on and on in worship.

What I'm really wanting to say right now is... even though it was a rough year, I was extremely honored and privileged to lead the student body in worship. I know this sounds mushy, but I love each and every student and especially everyone on my worship team very much. I will sorely miss everyone. I've seen a glimpse of what next year's worship team will be like, and I know that my team is in good hands. I am extremely excited to see what God has in store for NCA next year.

So again, I am honored to have served as the worship leader for NCA. Thank you all for putting up with me. God bless you all!

- Joshua Toms, Senior, Worship Leader '09-'10
