Outreach Reaching New Heights
The "Outreach" high school elective class challenges students to think of new ways to reach out to the community and serve others in the name of Jesus.  Not only do they go out themselves, but they research and promote opportunities for their fellow students to serve and minister to others.  This fall they hosted an "Outreach Fair" where various service groups provided information about volunteer positions in their organizations.  Students had the chance to speak to representatives from Southern NH Rescue Mission; Red Cross; Beacon Hospice; Families in need;  Care Net Pregnancy Crisis Center; Care Givers of Nashua;  Moremart;  Big Brother Big Sister;  Angel Tree;  and Nashua schools and afterschool programs.

You can read more about current service projects and opportunities coming up for students of all ages and families in the Compassion Post newsletter here.

Re-Registration Information Arriving
Re-Registration letters and forms will be coming to you at the end of January. We think you will be blessed by some changes we have instituted this year.

5 Alumni Talk To High School About Life After NCA

5 recent graduates of NCA returned to their old stomping ground and shared their experience after they moved the tassels on their mortar board, and headed off to college.

Jen Bohannan, Emily Myers, Becky Mason, Sarah Flanders and Mary Frediani spent an afternoon last week talking to NCA high school students about the spiritual life at their respective colleges, roommates, and how to avoid the freshman fifteen. Thanks so much to these 5 NCA Alumni.

A Heartfelt THANK YOU!
The faculty and staff at NCA send our deepest thanks for your generous Christmas Blessings! The notes accompanying your gifts were a particular encouragement. Again thank you for the gifts, for entrusting us with your precious children, and for remembering us so thoughtfully at this busy time!
8th Graders Invited to NCA High School
 8th grade invite
A special 8th Grade Family Night - the kids are invited too - will be held on January 20th at 6:30 on the high school floor. Watch for your invitation!

Parents of children in other grades who know someone with an 8th grader - please invite them or send us an email with  their name & address and we will mail a formal invitation.

This will be a special opportunity just for 8th graders and their parents to hear about the many high school programs at NCA. You may be surprised about what NCA High School has to offer.

Join us January 20th.
Why a Christian Education?
At what stage in a child's educational journey is Christian education the most valuable?  How is learning based on the Word of God distinctive at the Elementary level?  The Jr. High level?  The High School level?  We invite all NCA parents, students and alumni to consider their individual experiences and contribute their thoughts on this topic.  Our hope is to glean from our collective experience some insights that will be helpful to parents considering Christian education at NCA.

Unlike the truncated structure of the majority of school systems, Nashua Christian Academy is distinctive because here we educate students from kindergarten through grade 12.  This gives us the ongoing privilege of accepting new and transferring students into our Elementary, Jr. High, and High School programs.  For many students and their parents, there is a common theme of delight in being associated with a school based on the firm foundation of Christian values and faith.

Some parents decide on Christian education before their child even begins school, and some of our students have been at NCA since kindergarten.  Other NCA students originally attended their local schools, subsequently transferring to NCA.  Still other parents give secular schools a try, perhaps with the thought of transferring their child to a Christian school when it is time for Jr. High/Middle School or High School.

Bottom line: there are compelling reasons for Christian education at every level.  Each stage of a student's educational, emotional, spiritual and developmental progression is fed more richly when there is a common denominator between students, faculty, administration, and parents on the view of the world.  In contrast to the world's view "I am at the center", the view at NCA is "God is at the center," and that fundamental truth drives each of the principals and teachers at NCA to customize an optimal education and culture for each child in their school.

How have you seen this?  Please share your Christian education experience with us.  How long have you (or your child) been at NCA?  What other educational settings have you experienced?  What do you consider unique about NCA?  Please email responses to Heather Bee. Thank you.

NCA Welcomes Qiu Yuan 9th Grader from China

NCA welcomes our new international student from Beijing - Qiu Yuan (Chew-yen). The Bee family will be hosting Qiu Yuan, and she will be starting for the second semester.

You already know that NCA and Grace Fellowship are truly international communities. How blessed we are to see the Lord building the global family here through students from abroad and through children living right around the corner! At our Christmas Chapel this year, the fourth grade was able to wish us a merry Christmas in nine different languages!

2010 Mission Trips

Bolivian OrphanDuring the February "vacation" week, 12 high school students from NCA will be traveling to Cochabamba, Bolivia to work with the International Orphanage Union (IOU).  One of the first things the team will do is literally bathe children in the Cochabamba town square and provide them with clean clothing. Bolivia has a shortage of clean water, and IOU sets up a tent on the square on Saturdays, trucking in water to wash the babies of street people. From the city, the team will move further up into the mountains to work at a camp in a rural village, running games and activities for the children, distributing food, and much more.

Ultimately, the goal of Nashua Christian Academy and Grace Fellowship Church is to build a children's home to house 10 orphans plus house parents in the mountains of Bolivia and support it on an on-going basis.  The cost to build the home is approximately $25,000.

If you would like to financially support this ministry, please make your donation by check made payable to "Nashua Christian Academy" and mail to:
      Nashua Christian Academy
      8 Franklin Street
      Nashua, NH 03064
Do not put anything in the Memo Field but clip a note to the check stating it is for the Bolivia Missions trip. As is our custom, we will donate any money raised over and above our expenses (we are very frugal!) to the local ministry to help the poor and orphaned.

We would also appreciate your prayer support asking God to prepare the hearts of those on the Mission Team and those with whom we will come in contact; that everything regarding this trip would bring glory to Him; and that the logistics of obtaining visas and making travel arrangements would go smoothly.

In our March newsletter, we'll report on the Bolivia trip and tell you more about the upcoming mission trip to Poland in April.
