Greetings

I wanted to write something this month about love. I happened to find a beautifully written piece in one of my raw and living foods books, sometimes you find just the right thing in the least expected place. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did.

If you have a love for chocolate but have never experienced raw cacao you are in for a treat! Another highlight for this month is the couple's massage class Wendy will be offering . Learn the art of giving massage (and receiving it too!)

Be sure to check out some fundraisers coming up, where you can have a great time, while helping some very worthwhile causes. And last but not least don't miss Jen Sundeen's beautiful new website and all of the great yoga classes she offers.

Be well,

Kelly

WHAT IS THE MOST POWERFUL FORCE IN THE UNIVERSE?

This was taken from "Sweet Gratitude" A New World of Desserts written by Matthew Rogers and Tiziana Alipo Tamborra
Red Heart

Love is the most powerful force in the Universe. It is all embracing, unlimited, unconditional and endless. Love is the universal language that overcomes all obstacles. It is the universal language that everyone understands. It is our instinct to love and to be loved.

It all starts with us. Before we can give or receive love, we must first love ouselves. To love ourselves means to fully accept how beautiful we are, to celebrate our talents, honor our bodies and to cherish our unique personalities. When we love ourselves we experience inner peace, mental clarity, strength, confidence and joy.

Love is the ultimate goal of our human experience. We are here to learn how to give and receive love by practicing "being" love. To be love is to be an expression of love in everything we do, say and think. When something is not an expression of love it is an expression of fear. Whenever we are confronted with fear within ourselves or from others we must remember that it is simply a call for love, and the answer is to give love. We all want to experience love and sometimes look for it from an outside source when we are the source. The love we all long for is inside each one of us, and our challenge is to recognize this. Once we acknowlege this we will be able to project love all around us, and the world will generally reflect this love back.

Donna Messina has some wonderful classes and tools to support and guide you in the art of self love. Click here to read about Donna and her offerings.

FOOD FOCUS: RAW CACAO

raw cacao

Chocolate has been enjoyed for thousands of years as a way of connecting with the divine love of the Universe. No food symbolizes love better than Chocolate.

Raw cacao (kuh-cow) is the real, unadulterated, whole food source of chocolate. It is the original and the best. And the best for you too! Raw cacao is one of the world's most amazing superfoods, bursting with copious amounts of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and "happy brain" chemcials. The chocolate tree is botanically known as Theobroma cacao and can get quite tall. It produces pod like fruits, the seeds of which are the source of everybody's beloved chocolate. Unrefined and umprocessed, cacao is the "Food of the Gods" which is the literal translation of Theobroma cacao.

Chocolate in its natural state is a guilt free, nourishing, wonderful food. Over the history of human consumption of cacao, it has been used to treat a variety of physical ailments while also acting as an aphrodisiac and an anti-depressant. It was even used as currency in ancient Central American cultures. Cacao is an extremely complex, unique and magical substance containing more than two thousand different chemical compounds, many of which we know about, yet there continues to be mystery surrounding what is in cacao and what it can do.

If you would like to experience raw cacao for yourself you can try the recipe below or sign up for the Raw Chocolate Class on February 10th at 7pm. Indulge in the raw cacao items you will learn to make and start making your own wonderful raw cacao creations. We will also have some raw cacao items for sale just in time for Valentine's Day.
