A WARM TRIBUTE TO JOAN FAUVRE, "WOMAN OF THE YEAR" The rainy day couldn't dampen high spirits and the celebratory mood as PEF's former executive director, Joan Fauvre, was honored by a wide circle of friends and colleagues at a gathering at the home of Molly Munger and Steve English. Fauvre retired on Dec. 31 after leading PEF for more than 16 years. The March 20th event, organized by PEF's board, marked the start of a fundraising effort for a PEF endowment fund; the Joan Fauvre Tribute Fund has to date raised more than $55,000. The endowment will provide income in perpetuity to support staff and the foundation's day-to-day operations. Donations can made online. Students were also on hand showing their appreciation through their talents; Blair IB's Ovations choir gave a rousing performance while Blair culinary arts students prepared and served food.
Fauvre was also recently honored by Rep. Adam Schiff of California's 29th Congressional District, who named her a "Woman of the Year" for her commitment and service to the Pasadena community.
"Joan's impact in Pasadena has been exemplary, and she has set a tremendous example of what it means to give back to the community," Rep. Schiff said. "She has increasingly volunteered her time and talent, making unparalleled commitments to our children and their education."
