PEF'S SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAM A BIG SUCCESS!
|
PEF'S sixth-annual Summer Enrichment Program was stronger than ever, attracting more than 1600 students kindergarten through high school for five-weeks of hands-on learning. Excitement filled the halls at both Hamilton and McKinley school sites. Students in comparative anatomy dissected earthworms, squid, and frogs; musicians in the School of Rock class rocked out. Kindergartners and first-graders in the Chinese and Spanish immersion classes got a head start for the PUSD's new language immersion program they'll enter in the fall. As you know, this is not an easy time for education; many area schools canceled summer programs in a state budget crisis. PEF was able to offer this positive program because of private funding. While the average cost of tuition per student was $325, the actual cost is $440. We keep tuition low to accommodate as many families as possible. We also offered financial aid to 13 percent of participants. The 2010 program will only happen through the generosity of donations. Please consider making a contribution now so that we can continue this affordable, high-quality summer enrichment program. Your gift is tax deductible and any size will make a difference. Donate today to support our public schools.
