  • Batters Are Up for PEF's Softball Tournament

PEF's third annual Going to Bat for Our Kids Softball Tournament will be held on April 28th at Brookside Park next to the Rose Bowl. Teams from local corporations, community organizations, and the PUSD teachers shown in this photo here, have a great time while raising needed funds for the PUSD's athletic facilities. If you have a team that wants to play, or if you just want to donate and watch rival teams like the Pasadena Fire and Police Departments play, give us call at (626) 795-6981, ext. 422 or 595.

PEF Teacher Grants Help PUSD Music Programs

This year, with the generous support of the Washington Mutual Foundation and individual donors, PEF gave out grants totalling over $100,000 to PUSD teachers and schools. One of these went to PHS teacher David Miller to support the All District Secondary Music Festival this Thursday, February 15 at Pasadena City College's Sexson Auditorium as well as many other arts, math, science, literacy projects and more. Thanks to a donation from the Webster Family Foundation this year, our grant program has expanded to include much-needed support for field trips. To all our wonderful donors and teachers who make this happen, please take a bow!

    Kids with Heart

Lauren DeVaughn is a remarkable 11-year-old Burbank Elementary student who is being honored this February by the Pasadena Educational Foundation and Paseo Colorado with a first-ever KIDS WITH HEART award. Lauren and nine other Pasadena Unified School District students were recognized at for their acts of kindness at a special award ceremony at Paseo Colorado on February 9th. These students were nominated by their teachers for their extraordinary qualities of caring and concern. Lauren was selected by a panel of community member reviewers for her compassionate efforts on behalf of children in Africa.

    Summer Enrichment Program 2007

Sign up now for PEF's 2007 Summer Enrichment Program! There's something for everyone at two school sites this year. A K-6 program at Hamilton and a K-8 program at McKinley will feature fun hands-on classes taught by our own outstanding Pasadena Unified teachers. Please click on PEF Summer Enrichment Brochure to download information on classes and how to register. We have been able to expand the program and continue to offer partial scholarships to students with financial need through the generosity of the Webster Family Foundation and the Schow Foundation.
