The fourth annual Parade of Banners will let
local businesses shine by spotlighting their support
on
these colorful banners that are posted throughout
the Pasadena during the months of September and
October. The banners help increase community
awareness for our public schools and for the
Pasadena Educational Foundation.
The culminating Parade of Banners event will then
take place on October 23, 2006 at 10:00 am
at the Paseo Colorado. Sponsored by PEF and PUSD
Partners in Education, this event will
feature a colorful procession of students with
banners made thanking their Adopt-A-School
business partners as well as the drawing for the Audi
Sweepstakes winner. Banner sponsorships for this
year will be available until September 1.

On the recently released 2005-2006 California
Standards Test scores, the Pasadena Unified School
District posted strong gains in 2006 compared to both
the State and Los Angeles County. Among the
highlights of the results is that the percentage of
students scoring at proficient and advanced in
English Language Arts since the baseline year
of 2001 has increased for all grades, with over a ten
percentage point increase at almost all schools
including the four traditional high schools. District
wide, mathematics scores have increased at all levels
since the baseline year of 2002, with the exception
of Geometry. In other subjects, the percentage of
student scoring at proficient and advanced in History-
Social Science has increased for grades 8, 10, and 11
since 2001 and overall scores in Biology increased by
10% from 2005-2006.
