I'm very excited to share this month's issue of party possibilities with you; it's gourd-geous!

Last weekend, I challenged myself to create a festive Thanksgiving table display using pumpkins, squash and ornamental gourds.  I was so pleased with the colorful results that I had to share my design ideas with you!  Not hosting Thanksgiving? Lucky you ... keep these gourd-geous design ideas in mind for an engagement or wedding reception, networking event, silent auction display or even 'a lil pumpkin' baby shower.

As always, thank you for reading my newsletter, sharing comments with me and forwarding it to your friends. I sincerely appreciate it and look forward to planning your next special event soon.  Until then, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Gourd-geous Thanksgiving

Hosting a holiday dinner is hard work!  While I can't prepare the food and entertain your guests, I thought the least that I could do is create the perfect tablescape for you!  Designed with pumpkins, squash and brilliant hues of the season, it's gourd-geous ... and affordable!

Leveraging my personal china, silver and stemware, this is my design strategy:

  • Use gutted pumpkins and butternut squash in lieu of vases, and fill with a de-constructed bouquet of seasonal flowers;

  • Extend the centerpiece with glass candy dishes filled with ornamental gourds, leftover green stems and candles;
Want to further embellish your table setting?  These small details add up!
  • Serve butter in the shape of a leaf by using a cookie cutter.  Drizzle maple syrup for yummier rolls and sweet potatoes.
  • Disguise your wine bottle with pretty fabric (or cloth napkin) tied with a ribbon.
  • Wrap your cloth napkin around the dinner plate and accent with a piece of ribbon, leaf, acorn or baby pumpkin.  BONUS - write the guests' name on the object for a placecard.

One last compelling reason to decorate with gourds?  They can be baked after the dinner party and used in your favorite bread, soup or casserole recipe!  Now that's multi-tasking <smile>
