Hokie Luau Graduation Party
Last June, my client and I collaborated to produce a high school graduation party for her son. From an early age, he knew that he wanted to go to Virginia Tech and worked very hard to receive an acceptance letter. So when it came time to plan the party, there was no doubt that it would be a Hokie Celebration - a maroon and burnt orange color scheme with a tropical luau vibe. Why luau? My client has a tremendous amount of luau decorations ... so why not?!

This is the invitation that I designed, printed and assembled. The Hokie Mascot is festive with an orange lei.

Just a sample of the luau decorations - coconut people, grass skirts, tiki signs and more.

Hokie decorations included items from her son's collection like this huge stuffed mascot and hat, as well as balloons, party ware and even maroon and burnt orange M&Ms.
So the secret to my client's decorating success was leveraging what she already owned.
