MCWNET? It's short for 'My Child Would Never Eat That', a  dinner party hosted for moms who routinely sacrifice favorite foods and or flavor to have dinner with their children.

Sound familiar?  Then, this month's issue of party possibilities is dedicated to you, in hopes of inspiring your own grown up dinner party void of chicken nuggets and boxed noodles!  The dinner party showcased below features the invitation, decor, and food and drinks, which work double-duty as entertainment, too.

No children?  No worries!  The basic formula for this fabulous dinner party is ideal for many special occasions - housewarming, executive dinners, team building, birthday party, even a couples bridal shower, to name a few.

As always, thank you for reading my newsletter, sharing comments with me and forwarding it to your friends.  I sincerely appreciate it and look forward to planning your next special event soon!

My Child Would Never Eat This!
Dinner Party

Night after night, I make dinner, usually food that my young girls will eat.  Tired of those meals, and really hungry for more flavorful food, I decided to host a dinner party, inviting other moms who were experiencing the same thing.

Even if this scenario doesn't sound familar, this dinner party is ideal for so many special occasions.  Basically, I hired a chef to prepare dinner in my home.  It was part cooking demonstration in the ktichen and part sampling around the table.  The end result was fabulous!

Here are the details.

DECOR and DETAILS

Table was set with a gorgeous Seasons Spring linen paired with Avocado bengaline napkins, rented from Select Event Rentals.

A menu card was tucked into the napkin fold.

Forks were embellished with ribbon and alphabet beads for an unexpected place card.

Containers of seasonal flowers were enhanced with dried split peas and radishes (to play off the theme and invitation).

MENU and ENTERTAINMENT
Dinner Party cooking and tasting

I love multi-tasking elements!  In this case, the preparation of our food, followed by the tasting, was food and drinks and entertainment all rolled up into one.  This strategy works well for the budget as well.

Chef Colleen of Leen's Cuisine prepared a mouthwatering menu of 5-6 small plates and paired them with a variety of organic wines.  As guests arrived, we collected in the kitchen to watch her cook, inquire about recipes and techniques, and if desired, help out.  When 75% of the food was ready, we adjourned to the dinner table where she presented the food and wine one at a time.

Some how, we lost track of the time.  Conversation, and much laughter, flowed over the course of 5 hours!  Hands down, it was one of the best - and most relaxed - dinner parties I've ever hosted.
