Celebrating a birthday soon but not interested in all of the hoopla that goes with it?  Then, I have a party idea for you!  A Random Acts of Kindness celebration where the birthday person celebrates life by being kind to others.  Doesn't that sound neat?  I thought so, too!

Earlier this year, I was inspired by this blog where the birthday girl performed 38 acts of kindness - like coins taped to the soda machine, hot chocolate passed out to ice skaters and valentine cards delivered to an assisted living facility - on her 38th birthday.  What a great gift to give to others!

If you're intersted in spreading kindness to celebrate your birthday, then I have some ideas below to get you started.  Need more incentive?  Sunday, November 13 is World Kindness Day!

Thank you for reading my e-newsletter, as well as forwarding it to friends, emailing comments and referring business; it's always greatly appreciated!

Recipe for Spreading Kindness

Celebrate your birthday by performing (random acts of) kindness!  Here's a "recipe" to get you started!  Many of these ideas were adapted from this inspiring blog.

Share your birthday cake with people at a local homeless shelter;

Drop-off donuts or muffins at your local police station or fire department

(and say thank you for their service);

Volunteer at a local food bank;

 Buy a gift card at the grocery store and give it to the next person in line;

Distribute balloons to children at your local playground;

Hand out (packaged) treats to children on the afternoon school bus;

Offer to help put groceries in someone's car;

Offer to fill the gas tank for an elderly person

(especially good on a cold or rainy day);

Leave coins in the washer or dryer at the laundry mat;

Hold the door for someone, smile and say "Good Morning" like you mean it;

Read to children at Barnes & Noble;

Give your coupons to the next person in line;

Distribute bottled water on a bike path/running trail;

Deliver new or gently used stuffed animals to the hospital's pediatric division;
